Genotypic Characterization of Human Parvovirus B19 Circulating in the 2024 Outbreak in Tuscany, Italy
Human Parvovirus B19 (hB19V) is a widespread virus, causing erythema infectiosum in children and several clinical manifestations from acute to persistent infections in adults. In early 2024, ECDC reported an increased human Parvovirus B19 circulation in 14 European countries. A hB19V outbreak was also reported in Tuscany, Italy, prompting a detailed investigation of its genetic characteristics. In this context, through strict monitoring of circulating strains via next-generation sequencing (NGS), we carried out a phylogenetic analysis based on the whole of hB19V genomes. Phylogenetic clustering assigned all isolates to the G1a genotype, although with some mutations in NS1, VP1, and VP2, compared to the reference strains. Further characterization of these variants is necessary to fully assess their potential implications for public health. This study provides valuable insights into the spread of Parvovirus B19 and underlines the importance of continuous genomic surveillance to monitor and respond to possible hB19V epidemics that could impact public health
Advancements in Design of Personalized Bone Scaffolds and Fabrication Through 3D Printing
In orthopedic surgery, bone tissues aid in the reconstruction of damaged or missing bone and ligaments, allowing patients to achieve optimal motor function recovery. A musculoskeletal tissue bank collects and certifies donated tissue for transplantation. However, sometimes suitable bone tissue is unavailable or incompatible geometrically with the required implant. Custom-made, biocompatible artificial bone tissue development could mitigate such challenges. Scaffolds, either biological or synthetic, promote bone regeneration within the body. Despite research on their chemical compositions and mechanical properties, limited attention is given to their geometric design and personalized shape.
This study presents a method for designing bone scaffold geometry using additive manufacturing in a biocompatible material. The aim is to create a scaffold with variable density, from denser cortical to less dense medullary zones. CT images determine bone tissue density, compared to the density imposed on the scaffold. Additionally, the printability of the PEEK, the chosen material, is investigated. CAD 3D modeling software generates an example of porous scaffolds in a lattice structure, customizable to specific case studies, that could facilitate osteointegration.
Further research may address the structural analysis of these elements and compare the results with the characteristics of human bone tissue
3D printed custom gas cam for race bike application using Progrip® lock on grips mod.708
Background: The “drive by wire” mechanism for managing the throttle
is not applied to every modern motorcycle, but it is often managed
through a steel wire. Here, there is a cam on the throttle control. Its
shape allows the throttle opening to be faster or slower and its angle
of rotation, required for full opening, to be greater or less. The
maximum angle a rider's wrist can withstand depends on numerous
musculoskeletal mobility factors, often limited by falls or surgery.
Methods: Using a Progrip knob with interchangeable cams allows the
customization of a special cam profile, to ensure the best engine
response to throttle rotation and ergonomics for the rider. The use of
FEA software and lattice structures, allows to realize a lightweight and
efficient design, targeted for fabrication with additive manufacturing
technologies.
Results: The cam was manufactured by exploiting MSLA technology.
Finally, a dimensional inspection procedure was performed before
assembly. The main result is to have obtained a lighter and cheaper
component than the original.
Conclusions: This study has allowed the design of a mechanical
component consisting of innovative shape, light weight, and
ergonomics. Furthermore, it demonstrates the effectiveness in the
use of lattice structures to enable weight optimization of a component
while minimizing the increase in its compliance

EL ESPÍRITU SANTO EN EL PADRE HERNÁN ALESSANDRI
The present work corresponds to a theological study carried out on the Holy Spirit in the work of Fr. Hernán Alessandri, especially in his extensive book “The evangelizing proposal of Schönstatt”. In this work, the author articulates his pneumatological re-flection around three axes: The Holy Spirit as 1) communion; 2) love; and 3) strength and dynamism that is personalized in Mary.
