Práticas rituais, gestos, valores, símbolos foram retomados, de forma variamente arbitrária, para construir um mito que gerava novas ambigüidades, e que constituiu, à diferença do nazismo, um empecilho para a própria sobrevivência da "romanidade" após Mussolini.This essay aims to analyze how the myth of Rome was used by Mussolini to create a fascist specificity that coincided with a specificity of the Italian nation. Ritual practices, gestures, values and symbols were retaken, sometimes arbitrarily, in order to build a myth that generated new ambiguities and that, different from Nazism, constituted a hindrance to the survival of "romanity" after Mussolini

No full textThe International Committee of Historical Sciences (Ichs) awarded its 2016 International Prize for History to the Hungarian historian Gabor Klaniczay. The award was delivered during the General Assembly of the Ichs in Moscow in September, 2017. Gabor Klaniczay is professor of Medieval Studies at the Central European University (Budapest) and a specialist in the religious history of Late Medieval and early modern Hungary and Europe. Making use of historical anthropology, he has carried out fundamental research on the history of heresies, holiness (with particular regard to female holiness and the phenomenon of stigmata), magic, and witchcraft. He has examined the relationship between the Middle Ages and the creation of national myths, up to contemporary history. Founder of various institutions and the coordinator of many international research projects, he has played a fundamental role in promoting dialogue between the great historiographical tradition of his own country and those of other nations and schools

No full textNel 1966 Santo Mazzarino pubblicò su «Rinascita», il settimanale politico-culturale del Partito comunista italiano, una riflessione sulle ricerche dedicate da Emilio Sereni (famoso soprattutto per la sua "Storia del paesaggio agrario italiano") alle pratiche della viticoltura nel Mediterraneo protostorico. L'articolo di Mazzarino è rimasto sconosciuto ma il suo interesse è tale da giustificarne una nuova pubblicazione: dal confronto tra i due grandi studiosi emerge infatti un vasto panorama di incontri e scambi culturali dei quali restano tracce persino nell'età contemporanea.In 1966, Santo Mazzarino published, in Rinascita, the Italian Communist Party's political/cultural weekly, a reflection on the studies of Emilio Sereni (renowned mosdy for his work History of the Italian Agricultural Landscape) on the practices of viticulture in the protohistoric Mediterranean. Mazzarino's article went largely unnoticed, but is of sufficient interest to justify new publication: comparison between the two great scholars reveals a broad panorama of cultural encounters, traces of which persist even to the present day
