Maternal blood mitochondrial DNA content during normal and intrauterine growth restricted (IUGR) pregnancy
OBJECTIVE: We investigated mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) content in the maternal circulation of normal pregnancies of different gestational ages and in pregnancies complicated by intrauterine growth restriction (IUGR).
STUDY DESIGN: We examined 70 maternal blood samples: 13 nonpregnant women; 45 normal pregnancies, divided into the 3 trimesters;
and 12 pregnancies complicated by IUGR. MtDNA content was determined by real-time quantitative polymerase chain reaction, using a genomic control and a target gene.
RESULTS: A highly significant progressive reduction in circulating mtDNA was observed in pregnant women of first, second, and third trimesters and compared to nonpregnant women (mean value: 237, 188, 144, and 283, respectively; P .001). Moreover, mtDNA was significantly increased in women carrying IUGR fetuses compared to women with normal pregnancies (430 vs 144; P .001).
CONCLUSION: MtDNA could provide new insight into the mechanisms that occur during physiological gestation. Furthermore, mtDNA content may help recognize the IUGR disease in pregnancy
Domestic Workers' Occupational Safety and Health in Italy: from Legal Gaps to Platform-Mediated Work

Viaje e identidad en Atenas de Juan Vicente Piqueras
In this article, we propose an analysis of Juan Vicente Piqueras’ Atenas (2013), book that won the prestigious prize XXV Premio Fundación Loewe. Based on his experience in the Greek city, where he lived from 2007 to 2012, the author proposes a meditation on the theme of travel as a source of knowledge and on the condition of the postmodern human being by mixing myth with reality.
During the Franco regime censorship acts on every demonstration or cultural
work to spread the ideology promoted by Francoism, silencing any possible
dissent. This work aims at analysing the controversial Spanish poet Gloria
Fuertes who succeeded in crossing the lines imposed by hegemonic system
and carved out her sacred space of anti-francoist resistance, although she had
been discriminated for so long and confined within the narrow context of literature
considered marginal. After a brief premise about border concept and
some essential biographical references, then, the attention at first focuses on
discriminations suffered by the author and secondly on her of new style and
narrative tools able to oppose to the official speech promoted by the regime
by overturning its theoretical assumptions in favour of a liberal and pacifist
ideology
Jan Maruna - the author of my region
Práce je rozdělena do čtyř hlavních kapitol: Portrét Jana Maruny, Vybrané romány, Analýza struktury vybraných děl a Ostatní prozaická díla v kontextu Jana Maruny.Katedra českého jazyka a literaturyObhájenoAt the beginning of the thesis I introduced the author in more detail and subsequently analysed his three novels: Ambra a moře v nás, Hrobník od Svatého Bartoloměje, Vlak do nebe. When I was examining the texts I was focused on the topic, setting and time, characteristic of characters, composition, language and its devices. The Bachelor thesis is divided into 4 main chapters: Portrait of Jan Maruna, Chosen novels, Analysis of structure of chosen works and Other prosaic works in context of Jan Maruna

Do You See What I See? A Simulation Analysis of Order Bundling within a Transparent User Network in Geographic Space
The Physical Internet (PI) concept presents a radical change with the aim to revert the unsustainable practices that are used for transporting goods. It identifies dedicated freight flows and transforms them into transparent open logistics networks which can be accessed by other users, such as shippers and carriers. In this paper, we test the universal network openness in which the users can tap into the PI network and place orders that will be assigned to the nearest available transport service and consequently delivered to the order sender. The objective of our paper is to investigate the impact of inserting extra service points into existing dedicated freight flows of a service-driven company. We simulate different transparency levels and routings to new pickup locations and evaluate the impact in terms of altered lead times, covered distances, and fill rates. The novel aspects presented herein are (1) deliveries based on decentralized location detection of the nearest order sender, (2) dynamically changing speed parameters of agents within specific geographic clusters based on their geo-locations in order to account for congestion levels, (3) more realistic routing strategies that consider the urban layout, and (4) transparent querying of nearest agents in space and time that meet specific conditions such as current ongoing processes, available capacity, and position. Finally, we identify the impact from a general/holistic perspective that emerges once extra orders are assigned to the service-driven company's fleet.Ambra, T (reprint author), Vrije Univ Brussel, Pleinlaan 2 PL 5-4-36, B-1050 Brussels, Belgium.

This article addresses the representations of the French author Rachilde, pseudonym of Marguerite Vallette-Eymery
(1860-1952), in the Spanish press at the beginning of the 20th century. «The purest of virgins, but the most depraved of writ ers», as Julián del Casal defined her in the magazine "Caras y Caretas" (Buenos Aires), she embodied the duality of the modernist spirit, between purity and lust, spirituality and perversion. The modernist ideal of coincidence of opposites was transposed into a reverie of the female figure as a synthesis of the femme fatale, «goddaughter of Lilith» (as Darío describes Rachilde in "Los raros"), and the Pre-Raphaelite virgin, blending erotic and ascetic imaginary. For this purpose, this study examines three portrayals published in the Spanish press of the time, which are representative of different approaches to her figure: Ricardo Baeza’s in the magazine "Prometeo" (1910), José Francés’s in "Por estos mundos" in 1911, and, finally, the one dedicated to her by Carmen de Burgos in "La Gaceta Literaria" in 1930, titled “Rachilde la Humana”. In them, the stereotypes applied to the author and the different imaginative constructions projected onto her are analysed, from
idealization to humanization.
