El regreso de los muertos. Algunos aspectos de la traducción literaria
Does artistic translation have practical aims? In some cases it is of no use at all, since the reader is able to understand the original. In other cases, the translator's real aim is to rival the author to such an extent that the translator seems to be imitated by the author, as in Harold Bloom's notion of the "return of the dead"
Thirty-five years after the death of Renato Guttuso, an author who occupies a prominent place in the panorama of 20th century painting, the contribution examines his visual culture with particular reference to the Sicilian tradition. Starting from the early trials, at the center of a controversial fortune, the article offers an examination of the very close relationship between Guttuso and Bagheria, retracing the artist's beginnings in the wake of the late nineteenth-century pictorial tradition but not without important references to the subsequent production oriented towards a marked originality
Daily Reflections (Meditations) on the Scriptures from the Roman Catholic Lectionary.
|The message in Genesis that I keep thinking about is forgiveness and in Matthew trust. Forgiveness and trust bring you closer to God if you lean in and let God guide you. Both scriptures are powerful messages. I find myself becoming very quiet, turning off the white noise so I can sit quietly and think about forgiveness and trust. I find myself asking "Where am I in my life with forgiveness and trust?" "Who do I need to forgive?" "Who do I need to ask for forgiveness?" The list begins to form.|To augment my contemplation I begin searching for stories about forgiveness and trust. I find a beautifully written narrative on the Ignatian Spirituality site, titled "What Forgiveness Means," by Maureen Waldron. She writes "forgiveness is incredibly difficult" and then shares a beautiful story from Jane Knuth author of Thrift Store Saints about a women who had forgiven her father based on the insight "If you can't forgive it eats you up inside" and what Jesus death on the cross meant in relation to forgiveness.|I continue my search and read and found a deeply meaningful story about a New York policemen who was shot and paralyzed from the neck down at the young age of 29. He had recently been married and his wife was 3 months pregnant. Within hours and days of the incident he reached out to a priest and stated he wanted to forgive the young man who shot him. The police officer, paralyzed from the neck down lived a full, loving life and watched his son become a police officer carrying the tradition to 4 generations. The ability to live this full life centered on his act of forgiveness.|Finally, I search the Center for Contemplation and Action and found written works from Richard Rohr . He devotes an entire week writing on forgiveness and shares a beautiful story. A wife and mother close to dying describes a feeling of having "a mesh surrounding her, one she cannot get out of' until her daughter encourages her to forgive her husband and to ask her husband for forgiveness. Following the act of forgiveness the women describes a feeling of the 'mesh' being lifted. "Forgiveness is the only way to free ourselves from the entrapment of the past" (Rohr, 2017).|On the same site Rohr writes,|"Forgiveness reveals three goodnesses simultaneously. When we forgive, we choose the goodness of the other over their faults, we experience God's goodness flowing through ourselves, and we also experience our own capacity for goodness in a way that almost surprises us. We are finally in touch with a much Higher Power, and we slowly learn how to draw upon this Infinite Source."|So my thoughts continue to marinate on how forgiveness and trust are gifts from God, gifts that bring me closer to God, encourage me to lean in and trust my Higher Power, and allows my heart to heal so I in turn can continue giving, through forgiveness. Hmmmmm…..more to think about
El uso de animales como símbolos del euskera en los poemas de Bernardo Atxaga
COSTANZO, ANTHONY El uso de animales como símbolos del euskera en los poemas de Bernardo Atxaga
ADVISOR: Stephanie A. Mueller, PhD
This thesis consists of an analysis of three poems by Basque author Bernardo Atxaga (b. 1951): El erizo and Reggae de las Mariposas , from the collection Poemas & híbridos (1997) and Escribo en una lengua extraña , from Nueva Etiopía (1996). Specifically, Atxaga\u27s use of animal symbols is analyzed. The thesis concludes that Atxaga uses the two animals from the poems, specifically the hedgehog and the butterfly, to represent the Basque language. The hedgehog represents the state of the Basque language before the modern era, where the mountainous terrain of the Basque Country functioned as its spines to protect it from assimilation and invasion. The butterfly symbolizes the state of the Basque language in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries, as it has been forced to adapt to new challenges and circumstances. In both cases, this depiction of a language as a living being illustrates Atxaga\u27s vision of how a minority language has changed throughout history in order to protect itself and survive into the future. The conclusion was reached through analysis of both the poems and illustrative elements of Basque history

Effect of Using Recycled Instead of Virgin EPS in Lightweight Mortars
AbstractPerformances of structural, moderate and heat insulating lightweight mortars manufactured by replacing sand volume with virgin or recycled expanded polystyrene (EPS) are compared. At the same dosage, replacing virgin EPS with recycled one improves the mechanical performance of mortars without a significant variation in capillary water absorption and water vapour permeability. Recycled EPS mortars have lower thermal insulation properties than those manufactured with a virgin one, but this can be counteracted by increasing the percentage of EPS. To obtain mortars with a certain thermal insulating capacity, an economical saving over than 25% can be reached by using recycled EPS
WT1 protein is a transcriptional activator of the antiapoptotic bag3 gene. Turco M=Corresponding Author
The transcription factor WT1 has an oncogenic role in a variety of tumors from different origins including acute lymphoblastic and myeloblastic leukemias. Here we demonstrated that WT1 is able to bind bag3 promoter and to induce bag3 transcription in myeloid leukemia. We also demonstrated that the induction of BAG3 protein is partially responsible for the anti-apoptotic activity of WT1 protein
