Between Po plain and middle Danube Urnfield cultures: Codroipo and the Friulian plain in XIIth century B.C.

The contribution brings basic results of excavation of the hillfort Codroipo-Gradiscje, located in the central part of Friulian plain near the river of Tagliamento, with the settlement from the Late Bronze Age. The excavations have been conducted since 2004 by the Archaeological Museum of Codroipo and the University of Padua in collaboration with Centro di Catalogazione of the Friuli Venezia Giulia Regional Administration. The excavation has brought very important results from the phase of the transition between the Late Bronze Age and Final Bronze Age. Its importance resides also in the fact that it represents the first modern research activity focused on the mentioned period

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

The complex stratigraphy from the majority of north Italian protohistoric villages forces archaeologists to adopt a survey methodology that encompasses the different types of information collected in the field during the excavation and, at the same time, could become, during post-processing, a reliable critical review tool in the interpretation of the formation processes of the archaeological deposit. At Codroipo-Gradiscje, this need has driven the research team to adopt 3D photomodeling for the survey of the different living surfaces identified and GIS as the data-managing environment. This has allowed us, basing on metric, geometric, topological and qualitative information of the various aspects of the stratigraphy (including borders of Stratigraphic Units, type of the sediments, etc.), to virtually rebuild the entire archaeological deposit in a digital environment. Moreover, the adoption of such an approach allows for the implementation of modes of perception of the site by a wide audience not necessarily made up of specialists: starting from the virtual reconstruction of the archaeological deposit, it is possible, for example, using 3D printers, to obtain solid scale models. The purpose of this paper is to explain the above methods which have been applied since 2011 on the site of Codroipo-Gradiscje in detail
