L’organizzazione sociale del significato, l’antropologo svedese Ulf Hannerz, apre il suo testo affermando: «L’homo sapiens è la creatura che “produce senso”» (Hannerz 1998:5). Il ruolo dell’antropologia è quindi quello di comprendere il senso prodotto dall’uomo al fine di ricostruire la complessità delle cornici culturali all’interno delle quali i significati prendono forma. Ma come possono gli antropologi e le antropologhe comprendere questi significati?
In questo testo cercheremo di rispondere a tale quesito pro- ponendo un percorso di studi e di ricerca volto a pensare “l’homo sapiens” come quella creatura che produce senso attraverso il suo modo di progettare il mondo e gli artefatti di cui si circonda. L’obiet- tivo di questo volume è quello di dar vita a un’antropologia del design che studi la progettazione come un’azione attraverso cui comprendere la complessità delle dimensioni culturali. Leggere il design come fenomeno socio-culturale ci costringe, infatti, a ripensare le due discipline, l’antropologia e il design, sia a sul piano teorico che su quello metodologico
Citizenship: Anthropological Approaches to Migration and Social Exclusion
No full textThe connections between the transformation of citizenship, the diversification of poverty and the development of transnational ways of migrating is the focus of the chapter. As a result of the emergence of new poverties, the ways of impoverishment are characterized by a deep individualization, so that it is possible to observe different situations of life, forms of privation that go beyond ordinary economic deprivation. Furthermore, new ways of migrating and of managing difference within multicultural configurations have led some scholars to imagine new paths for claiming and granting rights. However, human rights discourses tend to reify complex and ambivalent social and cultural processes through which rights are negotiated, realised or denied within specific contexts. In some cases one notes the gap between the provision and the realisation of rights which is often affected by negotiation between individuals and groups. Such negotiation is influenced in multiple ways by the representation (symbolic as well as political) of social and migrant minorities.
We stress the importance of disaggregating both migrant as well as poor “communities”. Poor persons do not constitute a homogenous group and migrant groups are characterized by multiple and differing biographical and social trajectories. Taking into account the experiences of social practitioners implementing policies towards migrants and the case of the street lawyers providing legal support to homeless, we discuss the problem of essentialism and sedentarism informing many institutional practices and the implementation of rights. By considering citizenship as a problematic performance to be grounded in specific contexts, we seek to explore how anthropological and ethnographic approaches can contribute to the analysis of the realization of human and citizenship rights in our contemporary societies

No full textDopo una parte introduttiva dedicata all'illustrazione della nascita della fantascienza antropologica, l'articolo analizza la sensibilità etnografica presente nella narrativa di Ursula K. Le Guin. Autrice assai prolifica e figlia dell'antropologo Alfred Kroeber, in tutta la sua produzione Le Guin dimostra un interesse per l'antropologia che va oltre la presenza di etnografi come protagonisti dei suoi romanzi, e si estende alla dimensione della critica culturale caratterizzante la disciplina. Le Guin è inoltre una saggista, che si avventura in teorie letterarie di stringente attualità, punti di riferimento per autori come James Clifford e Donna Haraway.After an introductory part devoted to illustrating the birth of anthropological science fiction, the article analyses the ethnographic sensibility present in the fiction of Ursula K. Le Guin. A very prolific author and daughter of anthropologist Alfred Kroeber, throughout her production Le Guin demonstrates an interest in anthropology that goes beyond the presence of ethnographers as protagonists of her novels, and extends to the dimension of cultural criticism that characterises the discipline. Le Guin is also an essayist, who ventures into literary theories of pressing relevance, a point of reference for authors such as James Clifford and Donna Haraway
Postfazione: Antropologia e formazione del designer
No full textIl testo esplora l'intersezione tra antropologia e design, evidenziando come l'introduzione di prospettive antropologiche possa arricchire la formazione dei designer. Si discute l'importanza di un approccio interdisciplinare che integri la comprensione delle culture e dei comportamenti umani nel processo progettuale. Il volume presenta riflessioni teoriche e casi studio concreti da corsi universitari che sperimentano questa integrazione, sottolineando il potenziale dell'antropologia per sviluppare un design più consapevole, critico e orientato all'essere umano. Viene anche esaminata l'evoluzione del rapporto tra le due discipline, con un accenno a metodologie di design che già incorporano elementi antropologici. L'obiettivo finale è promuovere un "design a vocazione antropologica" che consideri profondamente le dimensioni culturali e sociali degli artefatti e delle esperienze.The text explores the intersection between anthropology and design, highlighting how the introduction of anthropological perspectives can enrich the training of designers. The importance of an interdisciplinary approach that integrates the understanding of human cultures and behaviors in the design process is discussed. The volume presents theoretical reflections and concrete case studies from university courses that experiment with this integration, underlining the potential of anthropology to develop a more conscious, critical and human-oriented design. The evolution of the relationship between the two disciplines is also examined, with a nod to design methodologies that already incorporate anthropological elements. The final goal is to promote an "anthropologically oriented design" that deeply considers the cultural and social dimensions of artifacts and experiences
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

No full textLo spazio pubblico di Piazza Verdi, territorio del centro storico bolognese, viene spesso rappresentato come il luogo simbolico del "degrado" che caratterizza il capoluogo emiliano. Ma Piazza Verdi è anche il luogo simbolo dell'incontro/scontro tra città e Università, tra studenti e cittadini, tra i numerosi e diversi city users che questo spazio urbano attraversano, abitano, vivono quotidianamente. Questo volume è il frutto di una inchiesta triennale che ha preso in esame i reali motivi per cui si è andata via via consolidando su questo spazio urbano una rappresentazione negativa. Obiettivo del lavoro è stato quello di favorire una visione di Piazza Verdi come luogo d'incontro e di integrazione tra Università e Città oltre le logiche dominanti, a livello politico e mediatico, della paura e del senso di insicurezza
