Personal Health Assistant, an Accessible and Usable IUI for HealthCare Portals
A new information service for healthcare system users is presented.
The system offers several services which are designed to improve the
information capabilities of the actual healthcare portal. An intelligent user interface simplifies the interactions between the citizens and the applications offered by the system. The developed information service offers also personalized contents and a management system of electronic clinical folders and healthcare processes. All the services are designed to respect all the guidelines and standards of usability and accessibility
Enabling Knowledge Creation Through Associative Networks and Semantic Web Technologies
Nowadays the organizations operate in an evolving and dynamic environment and to keep an advantage over the other companies they need new management techniques as well as improved applications, where inter-operability can support innovative thinking.
The goal of these tools is twofold. To improve the information retrieval processes and the finding of competencies within the organization in order to establish the conditions for the creation of knowledge and the generation of communities of practice.
This objective cannot be resolved without flexible knowledge representation structured as associative networks, which are capable to define user models, i.e. representations of their knowledge, their competencies and their objectives.
But this subsymbolic representation must be formalized to optimize the search of information. We think that, for knowledge management purposes, the better way is to reify the employees’ conceptualizations of the read documents. The obtained representations of the knowledge acquired every day by the workers can be further improved by the use of existing ontologies.
We provide some example of researches performed with the aid of these representation
Structuring Healthcare Practitioners Profiles and Documents with UPR Algorithms
In order to improve the communication and the cooperation among
the personnel operating in the local healthcare area ASUR ZONA Territoriale 7 we are developing a knowledge management platform for healthcare practictioners. Actually the platform comprehends a tool for the automatic annotation of forum messages and a service for the generation of networks of practice. Both the systems are based on a knowledge acquisition module that analyses the textual content of messages and documents to trace the profiles of practictioners. The representations of messages and profiles can be categorized by unsupervised pattern recognition algorithms. These algorithms are capable to set the optimal number of categories, requiring only the choice of a suitable similarity function and a structural criterio
Personal Health Assistant, an Intelligent User interface for Healthcare Services Users
This work introduces the road map of a wide project that is aimed to inform and assist healthcare system users of the local healthcare area ASUR Zona Territoriale 7 of Ancona. The system offers several services which are designed to improve the information capabilities of the actual healthcare portal. An intelligent user interface simplifies the interactions between the citizens and the applications offered by the system. The developed information service offers personalized contents and a
management system of electronic clinical folders and healthcare processes
Miro: a virtual private network for telehealth services
This paper sketches a software architecture fora TCP/IP-based telereporting activities that, thanks to its flexibility, can be exploited in many different operational realities and is able to incorporate different Intra/Internet-based teleconsulting services
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
