Archeologia degli insediamenti monastici in Basilicata: le indagini archeologiche presso S. Maria di Iuso a Montepeloso (Irsina, MT)
Irsina (MT), la medievale Montepeloso, è ubicata a 550 metri slm (F. 188 SO, IGM 1:25.000), nel cuore della Basilicata, su un’altura naturale ben protetta e munita di fortificazioni. L’abitato sorge nelle vicinanze del fiume Bradano e della via Herculea, che da Venosa giungeva fino a Potenza ed Eraclea percorrendo la valle del Bradano. Della chiesa di Santa Maria di Juso sappiamo qualcosa grazie alla notizia riportata dal Racioppi secondo il quale fino al XIV secolo esisteva presso Montepeloso un’abbazia dipendente ab antiquo dal Monastero francese della Chase-Dieu; l’abbazia era nota allora con il nome di Santa Maria di Juso. Nell’ambito del progetto di “Recupero, restauro e consolidamento dei resti del Complesso abbaziale di Santa Maria dello Iuso e riqualificazione delle aree adiacenti” ad Irsina, promosso dalla Soprintendenza ai Beni Architettonici della Basilicata, in seguito al rinvenimento durante i primi interventi di pulitura dell’area di alcune strutture murarie al di sotto dell’attuale ingresso della Chiesa, e quindi ad essa preesistenti, è stata prevista un’indagine archeologica in accordo con la Soprintendenza Archeologica della Basilicata.
L’indagine archeologica è iniziata nel mese di luglio 2007 ed è stata finalizzata ad approfondire l’evoluzione storico-costruttiva del monumento nonché le diverse fasi insediative del complesso monastico cui l’edificio era annesso
On demand cloud-based secure environments for analysing personal and health data
Galaxy is the de facto standard workflow manager for bioinformatics providing a complete collabo- rative platform for researchers. Even though several Galaxy public servers are currently available, there are some situations where users would benefit more from having full administrative control over a private Galaxy instance. These situations include, but are not limited to, worries about data privacy, the need for customization, the need to prioritise particular job types, the development of tools, and training activities.
The Laniakea 1 software platform facilitates the provisioning of on-demand Galaxy instances over heterogeneous Cloud infrastructures, by leveraging on the open source INDIGO-DataCloud cloud stack [2], which aims to make cloud infrastructures more accessible by scientific communities.
End users interact with Laniakea through a web front-end that allows a general setup of the Galaxy instance. The deployment of the virtual hardware and of the Galaxy software ecosystem is subse- quently performed by the INDIGO Platform as a Service layer. At the end of the process, the user gains access to a private, production-grade, fully customizable, Galaxy virtual instance. Laniakea features the deployment of stand-alone or cluster backed Galaxy instances, shared reference data volumes, and rapid development of novel Galaxy flavours for specific tasks.
Moreover, to extend the usage of this platform in clinical scenarios, where the analysis of sensi- tive data, in compliance with the GDPR, requires strong countermeasures to grant data privacy and security, Laniakea guarantees the creation of isolated and secure environments, exploiting storage encryption and access control to Galaxy through VPN, in order to carry out data analysis.
Laniakea allows the on-demand encryption of the entire storage volume attached to the virtual ma- chine, using the Linux kernel encryption module. The level of disk encryption is completely trans- parent to software applications, in this case Galaxy: data are encrypted and decrypted on-the-fly when writing and reading, respectively. The procedure has been completely automated through the web Dashboard of the PaaS orchestration service [3], taking advantage of Hashicorp Vault for stor- ing user passphrases.
We have implemented a robust mechanism to create secure encryption keys and prevent user creden- tials or the encryption passphrase from being transmitted unencrypted to the virtual infrastructure, compromising its security.
The oral contribution will provide details about the platform architecture and the service implemen- tation strategy.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
