No full textIn terms of reserves, coal is the most important energy source available in the world. Estimated world coal reserves are sufficient to guarantee, at present level of consumption, about 250 years of electricity production, compared with 40 years for oil and 60 years for natural gas. This paper considers historical, economic, politic and technological reasons behind the comeback of this energy source. In particular, we analyse the new clean technologies made in rendering the coal source more compatible with environmental and health regulations. In Italy, the strategy adopted by ENEL is, therefore, that of modifying its energy source mix. According to the plans made by ENEL the energy contribution of coal will increase also with the valorization of Sulcis coalfield

No full textThe introduction of genetically modified organisms (GMOs) on a significant economic scale dates back to 1996. The time gone by and the rapid spread of genetically modified (GM) crops could lead us to believe there should be all the elements for a precise evaluation of costs and benefits following their use. But it is not so. Many questions on the agricultural and food use of GMOs are still under debate, and, on GMOs, no unambiguous position based on scientific evidence has been presented.This work intends to evaluate the economic impact of GMOs through the analysis of the evolution of the main critical points that were typical of agribusiness systems before GMOs were introduced. More specifically, we will try to understand how the use of GMOs has affected: the relationship between the various economic subjects within the food farming chains; the possibility to access new technologies, food and the market of farming products; the degree of efficiency in the use of resources

No full textLa presenza di polibrominati, per ridurre i rischi di incendio nelle materie plastiche impiegate nei prodotti elettrici ed elettronici, è al centro del corrente dibattito politico vista la loro grande pericolosità per la salute dell’uomo e dell’ambiente. Infatti, il crescente flusso di prodotti elettrici ed elettronici ha messo in evidenza la necessità di ridurre l’uso di tali sostanze, pericolose soprattutto nella fase post-consumo del loro ciclo di vita. In questo lavoro vengono evidenziati gli effetti sulla salute dell’uomo e sull’ambiente dei brominati ritardanti di fiamma e le iniziative intraprese per gestire il complesso problema della produzione e dei rifiuti di apparecchiature elettriche ed elettroniche minimizzando gli effetti dannosi. The Environmental Certification Of Tourism: a Tool to Enhance the Unicity of a Territory
No full textIt is widely recognized that tourism and environment are characterized by a multimodal
relationship. This means that a damaged environment has no touristic value; at the same
time, excessive touristic flows have a negative impact on environment and ecosystem. These
considerations show that touristic activities, more than others, need to couple economic
development and environmental safeguarding and, as consequence, they need to be converted
in a more ecological way.
The new concept of “quality” for tourism includes both environment and ethic
management as the new basic pillars to ensure competition.
Although latent, the “environmental” demand for tourism is considered by tourists as an
aspect of the service which is inseparable from its overall quality. At the same time, a
competitive tourism service cannot be untied by environmental performances which determine
an high level of quality. It becomes necessary to efficiently communicate this new orientation
so that it becomes a strategic variable. Taking into account these considerations, the aim of
this paper is to analyse the tools that can enable operators and companies of tourism sector
to improve their capability to manage environmental issues and to guarantee the eco-quality

which feed a growing market. Up to now consumers have mostly based their choices
on the prestige of the brand and on the persuasive influence of advertising. Over the
last few years, however, consumers have become more aware ,of safety and quality
questions and now tend to include ethical and environmental requisites, even if they
are not directly connected to the concept of the "suitability for use" of .a product.
These aspects, therefore, become part and parcel of the "quality" of a cosmetic

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Full text linkThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
