del Belvedere ed il bacino che lo ospita possono a pieno titolo fregiarsi dell'appellativo di
geomorfosito, che sottolinea ancor di più l'importanza
che questo ghiacciaio ha nel raccontare e documentare
un segmento temporale della storia della
Terra attraverso una serie spettacolare di forme
del paesaggio. Esse rappresentano uno dei molteplici
aspetti della dinamica esogena in atto: la morfogenesi
gravitativa e soprattutto la morfogenesi
glaciale . La sua evoluzione, estremamente rapida,
può portare in tempi brevi, dell'ordine anche di pochi
decenni, a variazioni delle geometrie e a modificazioni
ambientali ben visibili, documentando in
tempi umanamente commensurabili che la Terra è
un «Pianeta vivente» .
Il particolare caso del Ghiacciaio del Belvedere inoltre,
pone l'accento sul delicato rapporto uomo ambiente
presentandoci esempi di pericolosità, vulnerabilità
e di rischio. Oggi più che mai si sono creati
i presupposti per dedicare maggior interesse agli
ambienti d'alta montagna per l'accresciuta frequentazione
turistica che ha portato l'alpinismo e l'escursionismo a divenire
attività di massa, con un enorme ampliamento dell'impatto antropico
sui sistemi naturali, ma anche culturali. L'esigenza di una più puntuale conoscenza
dei processi morfogenetici e delle relative forme, nonché di una
loro salvaguardia e corretta valorizzazione, può essere soddisfatta operando
sui geomorfositi d'alta montagna attraverso anche azioni di «turismo culturale».
La vicinanza al centro abitato di Macugnaga e la facile accessibilità sia con
sentieri che con mezzi meccanici di risalita, fanno sì che il geomorfosito
del Ghiacciaio del Belvedere possa essere fruito da tutte le categorie
di turisti, anche da quelli che non frequentano comunemente la montagna.
E' questo un grosso privilegio, perché il messaggio culturale fornito
da una «visita ragionata» al ghiacciaio, dà consapevolezza dell'attuale fragilità
del sistema ambiente. Tale fragilità si percepisce infatti «toccando con
mano» le rapide vicende evolutive del ghiacciaio stesso, che avrebbero potuto
in alcuni casi essere anche catastrofiche

No full textVittorio Ugo (Palermo, 1938-2005) is an Italian architect, known mostly in Italy and France as theorist and critic. Whereas, much less known is his architectural work as author of projects on different scales: architecture, urban-planning, design, which Ugo himself, later on, would have considered as a pastime of his young age. In his practice of architecture, the author of the article see, on the contrary, the roots of his theoretical thought. Born from a family of artists - his grandfather was a sculptor, his father an architect - he was looking for an original way to be architect, feeling an ethical need to see architecture from a scientific point of view. Getting back to the work of Vittorio Ugo means to take the distances from the glamour, the show-business that involves, in our time, architects and architecture and it permits us to return to the essential aims of a discipline which exists to create - and to improve - the human habitat
