Alternating field gradient susceptometer
A new type of high sensitivity susceptometer has been developed. It is based on the principle of alternating field gradient, using a thin metallic wire as a resonating system. Test measurements up to 750°C have been performed on samples with a mass of few μg, like Ni foils, Fe-Al multilayers, Ba-ferrite disks and single crystals of ZnCo-W Ba-ferrite
Singularities in the AC energy losses in hard magnetic materials
The imaginary part of the reversible susceptibility
and its harmonics are measured on hard magnetic materials by the
modulation technique in a dc bias field. A singular point is observed
in the second harmonic at the anisotropy field. An interpretation
is given based on Singular Point Detection approach
Sensitive loop tracer for measuring the dynamical response of thin films in a wide audio- frequency range
We have implemented and tested a sensitive AC loop tracer, based on the principle of electro-magnetic induction, which can operate in the frequency range from 10 Hz to 10 kHz. We have studied the dynamic coercivity and loop area of thin exchange-coupled Fe/Co multilayers as a function of the magnetic field sweep-rate
Reversal modes of the multilayer exchange-spring magnet
A one-dimensional micromagnetic model of the multilayer exchange-spring magnet is utilized for calculating the analytical expression of the differential susceptibility at the nucleation field in terms of structural parameters. The phase diagram in the plane of half-layer thicknesses is given for a Sm–Co/Fe multilayer, showing the critical line of χc→∞, which is the boundary for the irreversible demagnetization mode. For thin layers the optimum soft-phase volume fraction is deduced
