    Correlation of Authorship Pattern, Lotka\u27s Law and Collaborative Measures on Research Publications of Anna University: A Bibliometric Study

    This paper presents the analysis of authorship pattern and collaborative measures of 5318 research publications of Anna University and indexed in Web of Science (WoS) database during the period of 2014. 2018. The analysis indicates that multi authored papers are dominated in the dataset and the average author per paper is 4.01. The collaborative measures consist of collaborative index, degree of collaboration, collaborative coefficient and moderate coefficient. Overall value of collaborative index (4.06), degree of collaboration (0.99), collaborative coefficient (0.67) and there is no change in the value of moderate coefficient. The distribution of author productivity of the research publications follows the Lotka\u27s law

    Application of Lotka’s Law Price’s Square Root and Pareto Principle on Research Publications of Manonmaniam Sundaranar University - A Scientometric Analysis

    This study analyzes the application of lotka’s law, Price’s square root law, Pareto principle and collaborative measures on Manonmaniam Sundaranar University research publications. The data retrieved and downloaded from Web of Science database from the year 1992 to 2020. The findings of the study revealed that the highest number of publications is in the year 2018 with 200 records. Multi authored contributed 97.80% of research publications whereas single authored contributed only 2.20% of total contribution. Padiyan DP is the most prolific author with 94 records during the study period. Mohanraj K and Sivakumar G is collaborated highest number of research publications with 56 records in the dataset. The highest number of publications collaborated between India and USA with 89 records. Collaborative measures such as degree of collaboration (0.99), collaborative index (9.26%), collaborative coefficient (0.67) and modified collaborative coefficient (0.66) for the study period. The study also applied statistical tool such as Kolmolgorov-Smirnov goodness of fit test to verify Lotka’s law

    In this age of Information Technology, there have been so many opportunities for the Librarians for involvement in an information-based society including electronic and multimedia publishing, Internet based-information services, global networking, web based digital resources etc. The base of recorded information is growing at an accelerating rate, in increasing varieties of formats (texts, numeric, graphic, video, audio, image, electronic, etc.). Virtual Library can be defined as the Internet based Digital Library. The concept of “Virtual Library” is that any person who has a computer by which he can make connection to the library networks can access not only the resources of the library but also access variety of information that is available nationally and internationally through networks, like Internet, Intranet without being physically present in library. This article explains what is meant by a Virtual Library and to build a virtual library in what way the Librarians have to change their roles to face the challenges of modern Information Technologies in the changing environment. Also this article, discusses about the changing role of librarians, the skills needed to build a virtual library and how the virtual information should be collected, managed, preserved and disseminated to the millennium users

    Collaborative Measures and Authorship Pattern of Current Science Journal – A Scientometric Analysis

    The study examined the collaborative measures and authorship pattern of current science journal during 2014 to 2018. Data retrieved from Web of Science (WoS) bibliographical database. A total of 4298 publications appeared in current science journal during the study period. The aim of the study to illustrates various significant aspect of collaborative measures like collaborative index, degree of collaboration, collaborative coefficient, modified collaborative coefficient and authorship pattern. Relative growth rate and doubling time also analysed to find the growth of publications. Finding of the study states that 1440 (33.50%) papers contributed by single author, average value of collaborative index are 3.39, degree of collaboration was 0.90, overall collaborative coefficient was 0.78 and there is no change in the value of modified collaborative coefficient. It also concluded that relative growth rate decreased where doubling time increased during the study period. There is a strong positive correlation found between the publications and authors and between single author and multiple authors in current science journal
