Designing and Conducting a Process Improvement Experiment on Test Management Automation
No full textTest management aims at organizing, documenting and executing test cases, and at generating execution reports. The adoption of a support tool and of a standard process for such activities is expected to improve the current practice. ITALO is a European project devoted to the evaluation of the benefits coming from test management automation. In this paper the experiences collected and the lessons learned during ITALO are summarized. A formal methodology was adopted for the selection of a support tool among those available from the market. A survey of the current practice in component testing was conducted to adapt the existing process model so as to obtain the greatest benefits from automation. An experiment was then designed to measure the effects that are expected to be produced by the new test process complemented with the introduction of the support tool. Three pilot projects were conducted to measure the benefits obtained from tool usage and process modification. Results are presented and discussed in this pape
Process Improvement experiments in Perspective
No full textIn the context of European Communities funded programs, several software companies and research institutions have recently started collaborations aimed at conducting empirical studies. The industrial objective is usually the evaluation of a process improvement in a "scientific" way. On the other side, academy is interested in building knowledge about software engineering practice from such studies. In this paper empirical studies are considered in perspective, starting from the experience made during the process improvement experiment ITALO.
The objective of ITALO was evaluating the benefits coming from test management automation. In a first phase commercial tools were selected by following a methodology based on Feature Analysis. Then, a controlled experiment was designed to measure the effects of tool adoption in terms of changed quality and effort. Results confirmed the experimental hypothesis that an increased defect removal can be achieved by tool adoption. The associated increased effort is expected to disappear in the next iterations of tool usag

L’ortodossia nel concetto degli atoniti dovrebbe essere libera dalle caratteristiche locali per formare un unico popolo ortodosso, capace di fermare l’ondata dell’islamizzazione. Gli atoniti sono riusciti a canalizzare le spontanee decisioni dei cristiani islamizzati che tornavano all’ortodossia per creare un modello esemplare per il rafforzamento della coscienza religiosa e del legame tra la fede e la vita o, meglio dire, tra la fede e la salvezza.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
