Analysis of the relation between water and resistivity isotherms in concrete
Concrete is a porous material, that contains an alkaline solution, whose pore network enables mass transport from the exterior. The concrete as composite material is quasi an insulator when it is dry and presents relatively low resistivities, in the order of few kΩ cm when it is fully saturated. Concrete resistivity reflects the degree of saturation and is therefore a useful indicator of the risk of chemical attack and of reinforcement corrosion. The dependence of resistivity on the degree of saturation has been studied, yet this subject has still not been fully elucidated. The present paper studies the evolution of concrete drying from the end of curing in order to analyze the water and resistivity isotherms. Four concrete mixes (w/c = 0.4 and 0.7 after 3 and 7 days of curing wrapped in plastic sheets) have been prepared and submitted to conditions of isothermic water desorption in controlled atmospheres with relative humidity (RH) of 55, 65, 75, 85, 95%. Resistivity measurements were simultaneously carried out which enabled to identify for the four mixes the water content and the RH which gives resistivity values higher than 105 Ω cm. The radii of water-filled pores calculated from Kelvin's law were found to be smaller than those calculated by integrating the mercury intrusion porosimetry (MIP) accumulated intrusion curve with the water lost during conditioning at different RHs. The water content measurement that seems to be most adequate for comparison with resistivity values is the volumetric fraction.Peer reviewe
LitMod3D_v3.0: a software for integrated geophysical-petrological thermochemical modelling of lithosphere

Contacto: Eldar Baykiev, [email protected] is a software for 3D integrated geophysical-petrological interactive modelling of the lithosphere and underlying upper mantle using a variety of input datasets: potential fields (gravity and magnetic), surface heat flow, elevation (isostasy), seismics, magnetotellurics and geochemical.
Ver 3.0 incorporates a highly optimised Python thermal solver (bi-conjugate gradient squared method), crustal petrology features (thermodynamic equilibrium and metastable) and a parallel gravity forward solver. The new version is intended to work with program get-inp (customized interface to Perple_X, http://www.perplex.ethz.ch/) to generate the inputcrustal and mantle compositional files.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Lithospheric structure in the Baikal-central Mongolia region from integrated geophysical-petrological inversion of surface-wave data and topographic elevation
Recent advances in computational petrological modeling provide accurate methods for computing seismic velocities and density within the lithospheric and sub-lithospheric mantle, given the bulk composition, temperature, and pressure within them. Here, we test an integrated geophysical-petrological inversion of Rayleigh- and Love-wave phase-velocity curves for fine-scale lithospheric structure. The main parameters of the grid-search inversion are the lithospheric and crustal thicknesses, mantle composition, and bulk density and seismic velocities within the crust. Conductive lithospheric geotherms are computed using P-T-dependent thermal conductivity. Radial anisotropy and seismic attenuation have a substantial effect on the results and are modeled explicitly. Surface topography provides information on the integrated density of the crust, poorly constrained by surface waves alone. Investigating parameter inter-dependencies, we show that accurate surface-wave data and topography can constrain robust lithospheric models. We apply the inversion to central Mongolia, south of the Baikal Rift Zone, a key area of deformation in Asia with debated lithosphere-asthenosphere structure and rifting mechanism, and detect an 80–90 km thick lithosphere with a dense, mafic lower crust and a relatively fertile mantle composition (Mg# < 90.2). Published measurements on crustal and mantle Miocene and Pleistocene xenoliths are consistent with both the geotherms and the crustal and lithospheric mantle composition derived from our inversion. Topography can be fully accounted for by local isostasy, with no dynamic support required. The mantle structure constrained by the inversion indicates no major thermal anomalies in the shallow sub-lithospheric mantle, consistent with passive rifting in the Baikal Rift Zone
Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
