Arrangement of oil wells in the electrical system of caño limon field: fitting proposal
PregradoIngeniero ElectricistaInterconnected system of Caño Limon field set up is a distribution lines net used for transporting the required energy to oil well artificial lifting system. Because addition of a new well to the interconnected system depends exclusively of its geographical position, it is unavoidable in some cases the formation of load concentrations according to the own tendency of growing for an specific field, and that event causes that necessary energy for the extraction process can be delivered in an irregular way in the distribution net. With the development of this graduation project the author looks for propose a solution to the irregular electrical supply to Wells of Caño Limón field, in order to avoid the extra load in some of its distribution lines and facilitate addition of new wells to the interconnected system for the enterprise Occidental de Colombia, Inc. The specific problem was attacked carrying out a survey taking account the distribution of actual and new Wells, and the load capacity of the lines in the field. At the same time the topology of the net was analyzed, allowing establishing a new scheme of electrical supply to the Wells inside interconnected system of the enterprise, that guarantee the operation of the distribution lines within enterprise established parameters, and fulfill the established norms used to design electrical lines
Jean jacques rousseau: reflection of the possibilities of emancipation of women in society illustrated
PregradoFilósofoThis work is based on completely expose the various modalities through which Jean Jacques Rousseau argues the reasons to defend the subordination of women to men. It aims to analyze the thought of Rousseau against the enlightened society, tracing that thought in its many works, highlighting the relationship that develops between the Enlightenment and the possibilities of emancipation of women, starting from the analysis as the author postulates , namely Jean Jacques Rousseau and the Enlightenment, revealing the principles that have this emancipation within research done from the author's works reflect the social possibilities that Rousseau himself gives or takes away women in society giving as illustrated resulted in the subordination of women to men. The author outlines the genesis of the family making a move from the idea of the family implanting it in the natural state and from this place the first and most canned barrier of inequality based on sexuality. Indeed for the philosopher family is the pillar of society and is composed of a free and equal to the other man and a woman who for reasons of separation of sex work should remain in the pending home care their respective husband and children. She is, according to Rousseau, in charge of forging his early years to his descendants with the education she received: a male to be free and women to be delivered. Thus the author justifies the need for disposal of women, because that would be achieved, making his ideas of freedom and equality
EEG-EMG Analysis Method in Hybrid Brain Computer Interface for Hand Rehabilitation Training
Brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) have demonstrated immense potential in aiding stroke patients during their physical rehabilitation journey. By reshaping the neural circuits connecting the patient’s brain and limbs, these interfaces contribute to the restoration of motor functions, ultimately leading to a significant improvement in the patient’s overall quality of life. However, the current BCI primarily relies on Electroencephalogram (EEG) motor imagery (MI), which has relatively coarse recognition granularity and struggles to accurately recognize specific hand movements. To address this limitation, this paper proposes a hybrid BCI framework based on Electroencephalogram and Electromyography (EEG-EMG). The framework utilizes a combination of techniques: decoding EEG by using Graph Convolutional LSTM Networks (GCN-LSTM) to recognize the subject’s motion intention, and decoding EMG by using a convolutional neural network (CNN) to accurately identify hand movements. In EEG decoding, the correlation between channels is calculated using Standardized Permutation Mutual Information (SPMI), and the decoding process is further explained by analyzing the correlation matrix. In EMG decoding, experiments are conducted on two task paradigms, both achieving promising results. The proposed framework is validated using the publicly available WAL-EEG-GAL (Wearable interfaces for hand function recovery Electroencephalography Grasp-And-Lift) dataset, where the average classification accuracies of EEG and EMG are 0.892 and 0.954, respectively. This research aims to establish an efficient and user-friendly EEG-EMG hybrid BCI, thereby facilitating the hand rehabilitation training of stroke patients
Explosive Behavior in the 1990s Nasdaq: When Did Exuberance Escalate Asset Values?
A recursive test procedure is suggested that provides a mechanism for testing explosive behavior, date-stamping the origination and collapse of economic exuberance, and providing valid confidence intervals for explosive growth rates. The method involves the recursive implementation of a right-side unit root test and a sup test, both of which are easy to use in practical applications, and some new limit theory for mildly explosive processes. The test procedure is shown to have discriminatory power in detecting periodically collapsing bubbles, thereby overcoming a weakness in earlier applications of unit root tests for economic bubbles. An empirical application to Nasdaq stock price index in the 1990s provides confirmation of explosiveness and date-stamps the origination of financial exuberance to mid -1995, prior to the famous remark in December 1996 by Alan Greenspan about irrational exuberance in financial markets, thereby giving the remark empirical content.Explosive root, Irrational exuberance, Mildly explosive process, Nasdaq bubble, Periodically collapsing bubble, Sup test, Unit root test
Deep Brain Stimulation for VPS16-Related Dystonia: A Multicenter Study
Objective: The objective was to evaluate the effects of deep brain stimulation (DBS) in an international cohort of patients with VPS16-related dystonia. Methods: This observational study collected preoperative and postoperative demographic, clinical, stimulation, genetic, neuroimaging, and neurophysiological data of medically refractory DYT-VPS16 patients with implanted DBS in 10 international centers. Motor symptoms and disability outcomes were assessed using the Burke-Fahn-Marsden Dystonia Rating Scale Motor (BFMDRS-M) and Disability (BFMDRS-D) scales. A cut-off threshold for considering response to DBS was set at 25% of BFMDRS-M improvement at the last follow-up (FU) compared to baseline. Results: The cohort consisted of 26 participants (17 men, 65.4%). Age at dystonia onset and surgery was 17.8 ± 10.9 and 35.3 ± 14.8 years, respectively. At the last FU, 102.5 ± 57.3 months (range, 2–216), the mean BFMDRS-M improvement was 41.6 ± 37.3% (26/26 patients) and 34.8 ± 42.6% for the BFMDRS-D (23/26 patients). Most patients (19/26, 73%) were considered responders. Higher motor improvement was associated with stimulation of the ventroposterior portion of the internal globus pallidus. A significant inverse relationship was observed between improvement in BFMDRS-M at last FU, and the presence of spasticity (p = 0.027) and fixed skeletal deformities (p = 0.001) before surgery. Non-responders had a younger age at disease onset and at implantation, shorter disease duration at DBS surgery, and higher baseline BFMDRS scores.Interpretation: DBS was an effective treatment for three-quarters of patients with pathogenic VPS16 variants in our cohort. Mean motor improvement was most pronounced at the 1-year FU, but persisted at the last FU despite disease progression. ANN NEUROL 2025.</p
The Regulatory Role of H19/miR-181a/ATG5 Signaling in Perinatal Nicotine Exposure-Induced Development of Neonatal Brain Hypoxic-Ischemic Sensitive Phenotype
Nicotine exposure either from maternal cigarette smoking or e-cigarette vaping is one of the most common risk factors for neurodevelopmental disease in offspring. Previous studies revealed that perinatal nicotine exposure programs a sensitive phenotype to neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy (HIE) in postnatal life, yet the underlying mechanisms remain undetermined. The goal of the present study was to determine the regulatory role of H19/miR-181a/ATG5 signaling in perinatal nicotine exposure-induced development of neonatal brain hypoxic-ischemic sensitive phenotype. Nicotine was administered to pregnant rats via subcutaneous osmotic minipumps. All experiments were conducted in offspring pups at postnatal day 9 (P9). Perinatal nicotine exposure significantly enhanced expression of miR-181a but attenuated autophagy-related protein 5 (ATG5) mRNA and protein levels in neonatal brains. Of interest, miR-181a mimicking administration in the absence of nicotine exposure also produced dose-dependent increased hypoxia/ischemia (H/I)-induced brain injury associated with a decreased ATG5 expression, closely resembling perinatal nicotine exposure-mediated effects. Locked nucleic acid (LNA)-miR-181a antisense reversed perinatal nicotine-mediated increase in H/I-induced brain injury and normalized aberrant ATG5 expression. In addition, nicotine exposure attenuated a long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) H19 expression level. Knockdown of H19 via siRNA increased the miR-181a level and enhanced H/I-induced neonatal brain injury. In conclusion, the present findings provide a novel mechanism that aberrant alteration of the H19/miR-181a/AGT5 axis plays a vital role in perinatal nicotine exposure-mediated ischemia-sensitive phenotype in offspring and suggests promising molecular targets for intervention and rescuing nicotine-induced adverse programming effects in offspring
A talk with Loui Pechi
The authentic life story of Ljubomir Peći, who as a boy survived the Holocaust in Yugoslavia. Mr. Peći participated in Steven Spielberg's project related to the multimedia documentation of the life stories of survivors. His video interview, lasting over three hours, became the basis for a book published under the simple title "I am Lubo". In his book, and this presentation, the author touches on his carefree, completely idyllic boyhood in Zagreb. Then in a direct, childlike and completely naked way, he describes his experience of surviving the Holocaust and the consequences that the Second World War left on his parents' marriage and his life in the post-war years. He unobtrusively, but quite unambiguously, also touches on the often hushed-up and suppressed elements of the historical experience that followed the Holocaust: identity crises, transgenerational trauma and latent antisemitism that very much existed after 1945. Ljubo Peći's life story is about a man whose life threw him into many difficult trials and tribulations, but who, defiantly, always and only wanted to be who he was - Ljubo. The introduction to Mr. Peći's presentation is given by Dr. Aleksandar Stojanović, a senior research associate at the Institute for Recent History of Serbia and a Haver volunteer, who is currently working on translating and editing Peći's biographical book into Serbian.Predavanje održano 9. novembra 2021. godine. The lecture was held on November 11, 2021.Trajanje 1:31:41 minuta (duration 1:31:41 minutes).YouTube link: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSIprbOP5go
The passage of the twenty-fifth amendment: nuclear anxiety and presidential continuity
This dissertation is the first revisionist history of the Twenty-Fifth Amendment, which established procedures for remedying a vice presidential vacancy and for addressing presidential inability. With the development of the atomic bomb came a concomitant increase in presidential power and a strong desire for stability at the top echelon of the United States government at all times. Traditional legal histories of the amendment argue that President John F. Kennedy’s assassination was both the proximate and prime factor in the development of the amendment in 1963, but they do not consider the pervasive nuclear anxiety inherent in American politics and culture during the Cold War that acquired additional urgency in the shadow of the Cuban missile crisis. Oral interviews of the amendment’s architect, Senator Birch Bayh, and other key actors – as well as close scrutiny of previously unexamined archives – offer new insight that nuclear anxiety influenced every stage of the legislative process. The role of anxiety, an amorphous concept, was complicated: while it pushed the process forward overall, it led to debate about specifics. With the amendment’s ratification on February 10, 1967, the nuclear anxiety of the era became ingrained in the U.S. Constitution itself, underscoring the fact that the Constitution is a living document reflecting the exigencies of the age as the framers intended. A study of the amendment during periods of heightened international tensions reveals that while nuclear anxiety contributed to the production of the amendment, it worked to suppress the invocation of the amendment in practice. With a goal of expanding the field of legal history by examining cultural and political factors, this dissertation argues that nuclear anxiety provides another important explanation for the incorporation of the amendment in the Constitution and identifies historical patterns useful to further reform the presidential succession system.Ph.D.Includes bibliographical referencesby Rebecca Caryn Lubo
The Urbanistic Symbols in Stefan Kucharski's Jerusalem, the City of the Great King
Jeruzalem miasto Króla Wielkiego to jeden z tekstów Stefana (właśc. Hieronima) Kucharskiego (1595-1653).
Podejmuje zagadnienia natury mistycznej, traktuje o sposobach zamieszkiwania Boga w człowieku. W tekście Kucharskiego metafora jest chyba najważniejszym i najczęściej używanym środkiem literackiego przekazu. Nacechowana symbolicznie miejska przestrzeń posłużyła autorowi jako swoista alegoria, wyrażająca poglądy antropologiczne i teologiczne.Jerusalem, the City of the Great King is one of the texts by Stefan (in point of fact: Hieronim) Kucharski (1595-1653). The work has been preserved at least in two versions: they are kept in the so called Lublin Cartulary (The Archive of the Polish Province of the Discalced Carmelites, manuscript nr 246, pp. 287-302) and in the collection entitled Various exercises or spiritual lessons and lectures written by the Reverend Father Stefan of St Theresa (The Archive of the Library of Discalced Carmelite Sisters in Krakow, manuscript nr 62, charts 44r-47v).
The “lecture” most probably directed to Discalced Carmelite sisters, tackles the issues of a mystical nature and treats about the ways, in which God lives in a man. In Kucharski's text the metaphor is the most important and most often used means of expression. The urban space, characterized by symbols is used by the author as a peculiar allegory expressing his anthropological and theological views
