Analysis of Stability, Resistance, and Seakeeping Accord to Dimension and Form of Fishing Vessel 10, 20, 30 GT
Full text linkFishing vessels used to catch resources from the sea has to pass some of the regulations from International Maritime Organization for sea-worthiness of the vessel especially about stability, resistance to acquire the highest velocity, and the vessel’s motion. This research discusses the effect of the vessel’s dimension and the hull shape by using the stability standard from IMO.The result shows that the ratio of the B/T which meets the stability criteria is 2.50 with the ratio of KG/H of the vessel is 0.65, with the assumption that the KG and H of the vessel are more than 0.70. Whereas if the resistance ratio B/T is big, the resistance for the vessel will be relatively smaller. In terms of the vessel motion, a vessel with a V-type hull will better than a U-type hull in seakeeping

Di masa lalu, pembelajaran membaca masih menggunakan metode konvensional seperti buku, modul, dan papan tulis, tetapi saat ini seiring dengan kemajuan zaman dosen dan mahasiswa dapat menggunakan teknologi multimedia interaktif seperti, smartphone, dan desktop computer yang dapat membuat pembelajaran menjadi lebih efektif, inovatif, kreatif dan interaktif. THE IMPACT OF AI QUILLBOT IN IMPROVING STUDENT WRITING ABILITY TO WRITE ARGUMENTATIVE ESSAYS
No full text The integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in language learning has transformed academic writing, particularly in English as a Foreign Language (EFL) contexts. AI-powered writing tools such as QuillBot offer real-time feedback, automated paraphrasing, and grammatical enhancements, potentially improving students’ writing proficiency. However, limited research explores the specific impact of QuillBot on argumentative essay writing in EFL classrooms. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of QuillBot in enhancing the writing skills of third-semester EFL students at Universitas Darma Persada, Indonesia. Using a quasi-experimental design, 60 students were divided into an experimental group (QuillBot-assisted learning) and a control group (traditional instruction). Pre-test and post-test essay scores were analyzed using SPSS 27.0 to assess improvements in structure, coherence, and grammar. The findings revealed that students using QuillBot showed significantly higher improvements in writing proficiency compared to those in the control group. The experimental group demonstrated enhanced argumentation, coherence, and grammatical accuracy, indicating that AI-assisted tools can be effective in fostering writing development. The study concludes that QuillBot is a valuable supplementary tool for EFL writing instruction, providing instant feedback and reducing students’ dependency on traditional teacher-led corrections. Educators are encouraged to integrate AI writing assistants into teaching methodologies to optimize learning outcomes. Future research should explore the long-term effects of AI-assisted writing on different writing genres and across diverse educational contexts

No full textPenelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh pemaknaan atas makna pidato yang disampaikan oleh setiap presiden yang berpotensi dipengaruhi oleh hal-hal subjektif yang dapat menimbulkan kegaduhan di suatu negara. Salah satu metode ilmiah yang digunakan untuk menemukan makna tersembunyi dari komentar tentang masalah sosial politik, kebijakan, dan gaya kepemimpinan adalah analisis wacana kritis. Dengan menggunakan Analisis Wacana Kritis Van Dijk pada Pidato Pelantikan Presiden Joe Biden, penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap kebijakan Amerika Serikat. Analisis tersebut menunjukkan secara ilmiah bahwa Presiden Joe Biden memprioritaskan pemulihan masalah domestik daripada masalah internasional, dengan rasio persentase 70 persen : 30 persen. Persatuan, keamanan dalam negeri, dan keseimbangan terhadap masalah demokrasi adalah masalah pertama yang harus diperbaiki, diikuti dengan masalah internasional. Dalam pidatonya, Joe Biden menggunakan sosiokognitif superstruktur untuk menunjukkan pendekatan humanistik. Selain itu, Presiden Joe Biden lebih sering menggunakan pengulangan dan aliterasi sebagai kiasan untuk menekankan pesannya daripada Barack Obama, dan gaya bahasanya lebih sistematis dan lugas. Kata kunci: Analisis Wacana Kritis, Van Dijk, Joe Biden; Barack Obama; PidatoThe aims of the research is undermined by an absorption of the meaning of speeches delivered by any president who is potentially influenced by subjective things that can trigger a nation's agitation. One of the scientific methods used to find the hidden meaning of comments on social-political issues, policies, and styles of leadership is critical discourse analysis. Using Van Dijk's Critical Wacana Analysis on President Joe Biden's Appointment Speech, this study aims to uncover US policy. The analysis demonstrates scientifically that President Joe Biden prioritizes the recovery of domestic problems over international problems, with a 70 percent to 30 percent ratio. Unity, domestic security, and the balance of issues of democracy are the first issues to be fixed, followed by international issues. In his speech, Joe Biden used superstructured sociocognitive to demonstrate a humanistic approach. Besides, President Joe Biden is more likely to use repetition and aliteration as a pretext to emphasize his message than Barack Obama, and his style of speech is more systematic and coherent. Full text linkManusia adalah makhluk sosial; mereka tidak bisa hidup sendiri dan selalu membutuhkan orang lain. Bagaimana mereka berkomunikasi? Manusia dapat berkomunikasi dengan berbagai cara. Seperti dengan menggunakan bahasa, manusia dapat berinteraksi satu sama lain. Saat kita berinteraksi, kita bisa melakukan banyak hal mulai dari mencari konsonan, membuat klausa relatif, hingga menghina tamu. Ini adalah pra-teoretis, tindak tutur. Apa itu tindak tutur? Tindak tutur adalah suatu tindakan yang dilakukan dalam proses ketika kita sedang berbicara. Penelitian ini berfokus untuk menemukan tindak tutur ilokusi yang tersirat dalam tuturan tokoh. Saya menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dengan metode deskriptif untuk menganalisis makalah ini dengan naskah film sebagai objek penelitian. Data yang saya kumpulkan dari dialog dari naskah film “Thor: Ragnarokâ€, dialog para tokoh ditandai sebagai dialog yang akan dianalisis dan diklasifikasikan ke dalam jenis-jenis tindak ilokusi. Ada 14 data dengan perwakilan, 10 data direktif, kemudian ekspresif dan komisif dengan masing-masing 5 data dan deklaratif hanya 1 data. Total ada 35 tuturan yang mengandung tindak ilokusi. Jenis penelitian ini juga dapat tersirat dalam percakapan sehari-hari, misalnya ketika kita sedang berbicara dengan orang-orang, mereka tidak hanya mengucapkan beberapa kata, tetapi, dalam ucapannya, itu mungkin menyiratkan tindakan ilokusi berdasarkan konteksnya. Kesimpulan dari penelitian ini adalah kita dapat mempelajari lebih dalam tentang tindak ilokusi dan konteks dialog melalui naskah film khususnya mahasiswa linguistik.Kata kunci: Bahasa, Berkomunikasi, Tutur, Ilokusi, KualitatifHumans are social creatures; they cannot live alone and always need other people. How do they interact? Humans can communicate in various ways. With a language, people can interact with each other. When we interact, we can do all sort of things from aspirating a consonant, to constructing a relative clause, to insulting a guest. These are a pre-theoretically, speech acts. What are speech acts? Speech act are an act done in the process while we are talking. This research focuses on finding illocutionary speech acts implied in characters’ utterance. I use the qualitative approach with descriptive method to analyze this term paper with the movie script as object of the research. I collected the data from the characters’ utterances from the movie script “Thor: Ragnarokâ€, the dialogues of the characters are marked as the dialogues that going to be analyzed and classified into the types of illocutionary act. There are 14 data with representatives, 10 data directives, then expressives and commissives with 5 data each and declaratives with only 1 data. In total there are 35 utterances that implied illocutionary acts. This type of study also can be implied in daily conversation, for example when we are having a conversation with people, they are not just uttered some word, but, in their utterance, it might imply an illocutionary act based on the context. REITERASI LEXICAL PADA LIRIK LAGU ARIANA GRANDE DALAM ALBUM “POSITIONS†2020
No full textKajian ini mendeskripsikan hubungan semantik yang dapat disebut kohesi antara konstruksi teks dan hubungannya dengan konstruksi lainnya. Ada dua jenis gabungan: kohesi gramatikal dan kohesi leksikal. Kohesi kosakata dapat dicapai dengan memilih kosakata. Tujuan pertama dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis apa saja yang terkandung dalam lirik lagu Ariana Grande di album Positions. Tujuan kedua adalah untuk apa fungsi kohesi leksikal digunakan. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan menggunakan lirik lagu Ariana Grande. Album ini berisi 14 lagu. Untuk melakukan penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan teori kohesi leksikal Halliday dan Hasan (1976). Ini termasuk pernyataan ulang (pengulangan kata, sinonim atau sinonim serupa, kata tingkat tinggi, dan pengulangan kata umum) dan kolokasi. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan deskripsi ulang semua jenis kohesi leksikal dan tidak menganalisis kolokasi leksikal dalam lirik album Position Ariana Grande. Selanjutnya, fungsi kohesi leksikal dalam restatement lirik lagu Ariana Grande adalah untuk mendeskripsikan, menekankan, memperkuat, dan menyumbangkan pesan kata-kata dengan makna yang saling terkait untuk mengartikulasikan lagu tersebut. STRATEGI KESANTUNAN POSITIF DIGUNAKAN OLEH ANAK KEMBAR DAN BINTANG TAMU DI VIDEO YOUTUBE KIDS MEET (2018-2020)
Full text linkTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk menganalisis strategi kesantunan positif dan faktor yang mempengaruhi penggunaan strategi kesantunan positif pada video Kids Meet yang digunakan oleh anak kembar, dan para bintang tamu di acara tersebut. Penelitian ini dilakukan menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif dan metode kualitatif deskriptif dimana objek penelitiannya adalah 9 video Kids Meet di kanal YouTube HiHo Kids yang dibawakan pada tahun 2018 sampai 2020 oleh anak kembar. Data penelitian ini adalah ujaran anak kembar, dan para bintang tamu di video Kids Meet saat bercakap. Berdasarkan analisis, ditemukan ujaran anak kembar, dan para bintang tamu dari 9 video Kids Meet yang menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif, dan faktor yang mempengaruhi mereka menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif ada 3; yaitu faktor imbalan, faktor jarak sosial, dan faktor peringkat pembebanan. Dari penelitian ini dapat disimpulkan bahwa strategi kesantunan positif digunakan sebagai pembuka percakapan dengan seseorang ketika kita tidak ingin membuat kesan pertama yang buruk dan untuk meminimalisir jarak antar pembicara dengan lawan bicara dengan cara memuaskan keinginan lawan bicara untuk dihargai. Orang dewasa lebih sering menggunakan strategi kesantunan positif dalam sebuah percakapan dibandingkan anak-anak. Jarak usia yang cukup jauh dan juga perbedaan latar belakang profesi antara anak kembar dan juga para bintang tamu di Kids Meet tidak membatasi penggunaan strategi kesantunan pada ujaran mereka dalam bercakap. Kata Kunci: Pragmatik, Strategi Kesantunan, Kesantunan Positif, Ujaran, Acara Ragam Anak The objectives of this research are to analyse positive politeness strategies and the factors influencing the use of positive politeness strategies in the Kids Meet videos used by twins and the guests at the program. This research is conducted using a qualitative approach and descriptive qualitative method, and the object of research is 9 videos of Kids Meet on the HiHo Kids YouTube channel, which are presented from 2018 to 2020 by twins. The utterances of the twins and the guests in the Kids Meet videos while talking are used as data for this research. Based on the analysis, it is found utterances of twins and guests from 9 videos of Kids Meet used positive politeness strategies, and there are 3 factors influencing them to use positive politeness strategies; those are payoffs, social distance, and ranking of imposition. From this research, it can be concluded that positive politeness strategies are used as conversation starters with someone when we do not want to make a bad first impression and to minimize the distance between the speaker and the interlocutors by satisfying the interlocutor's desire to be appreciated. Adults use positive politeness strategies more often in a conversation than children. The considerable age gap and the difference in professional backgrounds between the twins and the guests on Kids Meet do not limit the use of politeness strategies in their utterances in conversation. AN ANALYSIS OF STUDENTS’ WRITING SKILLS IN PARAPHRASING: A CASE STUDY OF THE 5TH-SEMESTER DIPLOMA STUDENTS OF ENGLISH LANGUAGE AND CULTURE DEPARTMENT OF DARMA PERSADA UNIVERSITY
No full textIt is significant for students to have competence in writing research papers that requires writing skills. Using formal language and avoiding plagiarism are mandatory for academic paper writers. Paraphrasing is one of the writing skills, which can be interpreted as rewriting a source text using the writers’ own words by changing it syntactically or semantically while maintaining the main idea. Other than investigating the barriers to paraphrasing and how to overcome them, this research aims to analyze the paraphrasing strategy generally applied by the 5th-semester Diploma students of the English Language and Culture Department of Darma Persada University. By approaching mixed-research methods, this study uses a questionnaire and a writing task as the instruments. Likert Scale is used as a data collection technique in the quantitative research method, which is further processed using SPSS. Meanwhile, the qualitative research method approaches Keck’s Taxonomy of Paraphrasing Types and the paraphrasing strategies by Jackie Pieterick. The analysis results find that the majority of the students have difficulties in paraphrasing. A lack of vocabulary and using their own words become their barriers to paraphrasing. In that case, comprehensive learning about paraphrasing skills and strategies taught by lecturers or educators are expected to overcome the obstacles. Furthermore, using synonyms becomes the paraphrasing strategy generally applied by the students. The paraphrased version of the writing task also indicates that the students try not to copy similar words or sentences from the source and therefore the most of the paraphrasing results are included in the Minimal Revision
Analysis of Sea Border Transportation in Indonesia, Case Study: Crossing Between Indonesia and Philippines (Bitung – Davao City)

In addition, Indonesian waters serve as a liaison between cities, as well as between countries. As a border on the island of Sulawesi, the city of Bitung is a link between Indonesia and the city of Davao City in the Philippines. For all of this, security for shipping, especially at the border, is needed to support the smooth delivery of goods by using Ferry Ro/Ro ships so that sea transportation activities in general and trade and economic activities between the two countries can run smoothly because maritime safety greatly affects the continuation of development effort
