ANALYSIS OF THE COOLANT DENSITY REACTIVITY COEFFICIENT IN LFRs AND SFRs VIA MONTE CARLO PERTURBATION/SENSITIVITY
No full textThe coolant density effect represents one of the main reactivity feedback in LFR and SFR. These reactivity feedback effects are often calculated via direct perturbation in Monte Carlo codes. This work presents a new approach for reactivity coefficient calculations based on Perturbation Theory. New methods were implemented in a extended Serpent version and are here verified against reference results for spatial coolant reactivity maps. In the paper, a detailed investigation of the effect of the calculation parameters and the applicability range of the perturbation calculations is presented. The main advantage of the present approach is the capability of providing, within a single Monte Carlo run, several reactivity coefficients. This feature is demonstrated via the reactivity feedback decomposition in energy, space, isotope and reaction in the ALFRED lead cooled reactor case. The obtained decompositions suggest that the reactivity coefficient is the result of large opposite effect. A preliminary uncertainty quantification analysis shows that 208-Pb cross sections uncertainties have a large impact on keff estimates in the ALFRED reactor
Who is the author of the 1876 Stefano manuscript?
No full textFor over one hundred years the Stefano manuscript was a private document in the possession of the Baccich family and descendants. It told a story of the 1875 Stefano shipwreck as narrated by the shipwreck survivor and the founding family patriarch Miho Baccich. In these circumstances the question of authorship of the manuscript was immaterial and did not arise as an issue. However, with the publication of the manuscript the author‟s name, or names, need to be formally attributed to it. It turns out that this is not such a clear-cut matter.
As we shall see, all informed sources attributed the authorship, and the ownership, of the manuscript to Miho Baccich. But the manuscript itself was written by Canon Stjepan Skurla – a priest from Miho‟s hometown of Dubrovnik. The question then arises: should Skurla also be considered as an author of the manuscript, or, even as the sole author (as some would have it)

The broad landscape of follicular lymphoma: Part I
No full textFollicular lymphoma is a neoplasm derived from follicle center B cells, typically both centrocytes and centroblasts, in variable proportions according to the lymphoma grading. The pattern of growth may be entirely follicular, follicular and diffuse, and rarely completely diffuse. It represents the second most common non-Hodgkin lymphoma, after diffuse large B-cell lymphoma and is the most common low-grade mature B-cell lymphoma in western countries. In the majority of cases, follicular lymphoma is a nodal tumor, occurring in adults and frequently associated with the translocation t(14;18)(q32;q21)/IGH-BCL2. However, in recent years the spectrum of follicular lymphoma has expanded and small subsets of follicular lymphoma, which differ from common follicular lymphoma, have been identified and included in the current 2017 WHO classification. The aim of our review is to describe the broad spectrum of follicular lymphoma, pointing out that the identification of distinct clinicopathological variants of follicular lymphoma is relevant for patient outcomes and choice of treatment

During his 6-year tenure with CRS4, he headed a team of engineers working on different international research projects in the field of energy production and nuclear waste transmutation. Before working at CRS4, and alongside his appointment at CRS4, he worked with Physics Nobel Laureate Carlo Rubbia at The European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN), the world’s largest research laboratory for particle physics, in Geneva, Switzerland. He actively participated in the development of CERN’s Adiabatic Resonance Crossing (ARC) method. He is the author of numerous scientific papers. A Sentence Structure-based Approach to Unsupervised Author Identification
No full textAssessing whether two documents were written by the same author is a crucial task, especially in the Internet age, with possible applications to philology and forensics.
The problem has been tackled in the literature by exploiting frequency-based approaches, numeric techniques or writing style analysis. Focusing on this last perspective, this paper proposes a novel technique that takes into account the structure of sentences, assuming that it is strictly related to the author's writing style. Specifically, a (collection of) text(s) in natural language written by a given author is translated into a set of First-Order Logic descriptions, and a model of the author's writing habits is obtained as the result of clustering these descriptions. Then, if an overlapping exists between the models of a known author and of an unknown one, the conclusion can be drawn that they are the same person. Among the advantages of this approach, it does not need a training phase, and performs well also on short texts and/or small collections
