Radiological diagnosis of ischemic lesions of the colon (author's transl) [Le diagnostic radiologique des altérations du gros intestin d'origine ischémique.]
Critical evaluation of renal masses' angiography
152 consecutive space-occupying renal lesions (54 cancers, 66 single or multiple cysts, 18 pseudotumors, 8 inflammatory lesions, 3 hydronephroses, 3 hematomas) were studied by selective angiography, considering the signs noted in the three phases: arterial, nephrographic, and venous. The frequency of each of these angiographic signs in the different forms of renal pathology was evaluated. Based on this study, pathognomonic angiographic signs were identified for the various types of pathology. For each angiographic sign the 'diagnostic value' was calculated in order to differentiate malignant from benign space-occupying lesions. Dependent on the angiographic phase they are in, these signs constitute the arterial, nephrographic, and venous 'symptom constellation' characteristic of each lesion. The relationship between angiographic signs and either histologic type or size of tumor were analyzed. The causes of false positive and false negatives were investigated. The value of certain angiographic signs for a correct diagnosis of the cases judged as suspect or misinterpreted was discussed
Die distale spleno-renale termino-laterale Anastomose nach Warren
This is a report on 28 Warren-Shunts, 17 of these patients had undergone clinical, hematological and angiographic controls 2-46 (mean 10) months after the operation. The critical evaluation of the results shows that the Warren derivation, which is selective at the moment of operation, develops in the following time some hepatofugal circulation. This is a more radical effect than the intended drainage of the gastro-esophageal venous bed alone. © 1979 Springer-Verlag
Vesicle budding from endoplasmic reticulum is involved in calsequestrin routing to sarcoplasmic reticulum of skeletal muscles
CS (calsequestrin) is an acidic glycoprotein of the SR (sarcoplasmic reticulum) lumen and plays a crucial role in the storage of Ca2+ and in excitation-contraction coupling of skeletal muscles. CS is synthesized in the ER (endoplasmic reticulum) and is targeted to the TC (terminal cisternae) of SR via mechanisms still largely unknown, but probably involving vesicle transport through the Golgi complex. In the present study, two mutant forms of Sari and ARF1 (ADP-ribosylation factor 1) were used to disrupt cargo exit from ER-exit sites and intra-Golgi trafficking in skeletal-muscle fibres respectively. Co-expression of Sar1-H79G (His79 → Gly) and recombinant, epitope-tagged CS, CSHA1 (where HA1 stands for nine-amino-acid epitope of the viral haemagglutinin 1), barred segregation of CSHA1 to TC. On the other hand, expression of ARF1-N126I altered the subcellular localization of GM130, a cis-medial Golgi protein in skeletal-muscle fibres and myotubes, without interfering with CSHA1 targeti..
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.
