No full textThe research being carried out nowadays on soft magnetic materials focuses on increasing the total efficiency of electromagnetic devices reducing the total losses. In this context, new magnetic materials are becoming increasingly important and could replace the traditional ones in many applications. In the field of electrical machines and filter inductances, the laminated sheets could be replaced, for some applications, with more energy-efficient materials. New compacted magnetic cores have been implemented adopting Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) materials. Many advantages are obtained by the use of such materials: lower eddy currents and total iron losses at medium frequencies and the possibility to produce magnetic cores in very complex geometries. In this work innovative SMCs are implemented using organic layers to insulate and keep together the grains; the effect of the particle sizes on magnetic properties has been examined: specimens with small, medium and big granulometry have been made and fully characterised

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Pickup Magnetic Sensors: A Dedicated Simulation Tool to Evaluate Innovative Hybrid Materials
No full textMagnetic sensors are widely adopted in many industrial fields, particularly where the environmental conditions are difficult. A particular application, represented by a guitar pickup has been taken as reference to test innovative magnetic materials. The materials here proposed are Hybrid Magnetic Composites (HMC), obtained mixing together magnetic powder (Neodymium), a polymeric binder and a percentage of iron and then pressing in a mold. The resulting material presents a magnetic characteristic quite similar to those of AlNiCo, normally adopted in these kinds of pickup. In order to foresee the behavior of the sensor with a large number of possible materials, a dedicated simulation model has been realized; the simulation of the flux linkage in the coil, and the consequent induced voltage allows to compare the results and focus the attention on the most promising materials. AlNiCo, bonded magnets and HMC are compared in terms of performance. Contrarily to what can be imagined the materials with higher magnetic characteristics are not the best solution; particular attention has been in fact devoted to the evaluation of the attractive force between the magnets and the strings, that cannot be too high
Il ruolo della comprensione del testo nel processo di matematizzazione e modellizzazione
Full text linkIn questo articolo vengono analizzate le risposte fornite ad un interessante item relativo alla Prova standardizzata di matematica somministrata nel maggio 2015 a tutti gli allievi di quinta elementare del Canton Ticino. A partire dai risultati statistici emersi da un campione di 508 protocolli selezionati, viene presentata un’analisi qualitativa effettuata su un campione più ristretto di 174 studenti di prima media, allo scopo di rintracciare le cause delle difficoltà emerse nella risoluzione. Da questa analisi si rileva come le risposte sbagliate di diversi studenti siano legate a difficoltà nella comprensione del testo dell’item, in particolare a difficoltà di interpretazione linguistica. Le considerazioni effettuate possono fornire strumenti all’insegnante per la diagnosi di specifiche difficoltà e per suggerire “zone d’intervento”.This article analyzes the answers given to an item related to the standardized math test administered in May 2015 to all fifth grade primary students in Canton Ticino. Starting from the statistical results emerged from a sample of 508 selected protocols, it has been performed a qualitative analysis on a shorter sample of 174 students of first year of secondary school, to trace the causes of the difficulties emerged in the resolution. From this analysis we found that the wrong answers of different students are related to difficulties in understanding the text of the item, in particular the difficulty related to linguistic interpretation. Considerations made may provide teachers tools for diagnosing specific difficulties and suggesting “intervention areas”
Caratterizzazione delle Emissioni Veicolari in Atmosfera: Sistema EVA
No full textCon attenzione al problema della qualità dell'aria ed in riferimento al suo inquinamento, viene preso in considerazione il contributo dovuto alle emissioni veicolari. Per potere condurre al meglio le analisi delle polveri e degli inquinanti presenti in atmosfera e dovuti a questo tipo di emissioni, si propone la realizzazione di un complesso sperimentale che, ricreando il più fedelmente possibile le condizioni ambientali in un volume chiuso e controllato, possa rendere possibili misure accurate e soprattutto complete delle emissioni veicolari, in rapporto alloro impatto con l'atmosfera. Tale dispositivo consentirà inoltre di certificare i veicoli in riferimento al loro impatto ambientale e ciò varrà anche per veicoli che utilizzeranno tecnologie alternative ai carburanti convenzionali. Variations on the Author
Full text link“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
