Il verde per costruire nel mediterraneo
This introduction to the book takes the steps from the idea that it were of vital importance to consider the vegetation as a part of our existence, a part which should govern also the design and program choices, mainly in the big metropolitan areas. The paper describes then the aims, the tools and the methodology employed by the research team during the study of the link between green and city, between vegetation and buildings, between nature and anthropic life. The option of considering under holistic terms the subject of the flora within the built landscape becomes more and more updated and leads to an high consciousness about the biological cycles, of homogeneity of natural processes and of the responsibility which necessarily any actor of land transformation should take. The contribution to landscape, both cultural and natural, is outlined and the fil rouge of the performance levels of such resources within man’s habitat are introduced. Some bioclimatic principles, more deeply analyzed within the other chapters of the book, are focused on, during the study about the greenery role within the technological design

Verso la Città metropolitana di Napoli. Lettura interdisciplinare

Green for building in the Mediterranean (Il verde per costruire nel Mediterraneo)
The introduction to the book, contained in this text, has the aim of focusing on the emerging idea that it is now of vital importance to consider the vegetation as a part of our existence, a part which should govern also the design and programme choices, mainly in the big metropolitan areas. The research is illustrated, which has provided a number of results due to the various viewpoints the number of experts gave to the question of the new alliance between man and nature. The role Greenery plays within the technological design is outlined and carried out according to the bioclimatic as well as bioregionalist lens: so proposing a new approach aimed both at searching a deeper bond between the a-biotic built sphere and that of the biotic greenery, and at taking into account the role of the project. Once comprehended the present or absent dynamics between the two spheres, once applied a global knowledge of the vegetable processes and of how they interact with the world built by man, it seems possible to create a substratum of rules to apply time by time upon the different cases which are set at the designers’ attention, when the role of greenery were considered essential, and if, and only if, the latest is retained integral part of the project since the beginning
Customizing a Python driver for IDS cameras under Raspberry Pi - Claudio Francese
IDS Cameras (www.ids-imaging.com) are widely used devices both in industrial and scientific applications for their high resolution, framerate and expansion capabilities. Other features include the synchronization of the image capture to an external trigger and turning on an external flash during the frame acquisition. The software and the drivers provided by the manufacturer are compatible with Windows TM, Linux for IntelTM architecture and some Linux based embedded systems. One of the supported platforms is the Raspberry Pi (www.raspberrypi.org).
The Raspberry Pi embedded system is a small dimensions computer (85.6mm x 56mm x 21mm) running a Linux operating system on a 900 MHz quad core CPU. The presence of USB and Ethernet connections and an expansion connector (with SPI, I2C signals available) makes the device a good and low cost solution (less than 50 €) for setting up a scalable, reliable network of distributed intelligent controllers for electronic devices, digital integrated circuits (for example DDS signal generators, FPGAs, A/D and D/A converters) and measurement instrumentation.
This document shows how to interface a USB IDS camera to a Raspberry Pi using the Python language and how to modify a working Python wrapper to the IDS camera C library in order to fit the user’s needs
