No full textGiven the established direct correlation that exists among extent of resection and postoperative survival in brain tumors, obtaining complete resections is of primary importance. Apart from the various technological advancements that have been introduced in current clinical practice, histopathological study still remains the gold-standard for definitive diagnosis. Frozen section analysis still represents the most rapid and used intraoperative histopathological method that allows for an intraoperative differential diagnosis. Nevertheless, such technique owes some intrinsic limitations that limit its overall potential in obtaining real-time diagnosis during surgery. In this context, confocal laser technology has been suggested as a promising method to have near real-time intraoperative histological images in neurosurgery, thanks to the results of various studies performed in other non-neurosurgical fields. Still far to be routinely implemented in current neurosurgical practice, pertinent literature is growing quickly, and various reports have recently demonstrated the utility of this technology in both preclinical and clinical settings in identifying brain tumors, microvasculature, and tumor margins, when coupled to the intravenous administration of sodium fluorescein. Specifically in neurosurgery, among different available devices, the ZEISS CONVIVO system probably boasts the most recent and largest number of experimental studies assessing its usefulness, which has been confirmed for identifying brain tumors, offering a diagnosis and distinguishing between healthy and pathologic tissue, and studying brain vessels. Questa attitudine è ancora più marcata nell’ambito del diritto commerciale, per via della scelta operata dagli austriaci di mantenere il Code de
commerce nei domini italiani. In questo quadro, è degna di attenzione la decisione dell’Istituto Lombardo di proporre, per il premio scientifico biennale del 1842, un quesito che stimola i concorrenti ad affrontare criticamente il diritto societario. Fra gli scritti pervenuti, spicca la memoria del giovane avvocato Francesco Restelli, che contiene un vero e proprio progetto alternativo al titolo Delle società del codice. / In Lombardy during the Restoration era the legal science tends to concentrate on the codes’ content and to be influenced by the French one. This inclination is even stronger in the field of commercial law as the Austrians had decided not to abrogate the Code de commerce in the Kingdom of Lombardy-Venetia. Against this back ground, it is remarkable that in 1842 the Istituto Lombardo chooses a theme for its “premio scientifico biennale” that spurs the competitors to deal with company law with a critical approach. Among the submitted entries, Francesco Restelli’s one is the most interesting: he drew up a veritable alternative to title III, book I of the Commercial Code

No full textImmune depression of Galleria mellonella larvae was evaluated a short time after infection with the entomopathogenic nematode Steinernema feltiae. In the host the activity of the enzymatic cascade known as the proPO system was significantly reduced by the presence of either live or dead parasites. The presence of parasites decreased the LPS-elicited proPO system activity. In addition, this process seems to be related to a decrease in the activity of hemolymph proteases, more than to phenoloxidase damage. proPO inhibition was also achieved by injected isolated cuticle fragments, suggesting that the parasite body surface plays an important role in the early parasitation phase

No full textInterest towards the applications of ICT in public and private urban transport has grown significantly over the last few years. In the field of the user interfaces with transportation, however, continuous, highly context-Aware, real time interaction can still be found only in a very limited number of cases, mostly in private transportation. One of the main issues in actually developing an assistive, portable, continuously interacting application is getting to know the transports system state (equations of motion of the means, position of the users on the means). In most cities the most temporally accurate data available is the estimated departure time of the next train or bus at the stops. In this paper, we propose a state-based Bayesian approach to the reconstruction of the transit system state from limited available knowledge (estimated departure time at the stops, data from users phone). The system is general and effective also in the presence of various real-world kinds of noise, such as information blackouts. In addition, we propose an extension to seamlessly exploit location of users to estimate which means they're on-board, and describe some scenarios in which such information would be of great value for the transit agencies, and would enable innovative social applications and interactions
