No full textLa publicación de Un lugar soleado para gente sombría parece cerrar con broche de oro la trayectoria hasta aquí marcada por la narrativa breve de Mariana Enriquez, añadiendo un significativo matiz melancólico a su poética del terror. En concreto, podríamos decir que en esta última colección de relatos los fantasmas ya no asustan: encarcelados en burbujas atemporales, no lugares sin tiempo, son embajadores sin mensaje de pasados irrescatables, botellas vacías que nadan erráticas en la altamar de lo contemporáneo, que han perdido toda fuerza contradiscursiva y son ahora apenas los lastimosos portadores de una nostalgia sin precisar. De acuerdo con el uso hauntológico que Mariana hace de la música - el rock de los Setenta y Ochenta, el indie de los Noventa, esas escenas independientes que ya han perdido toda trascendencia y que el macrotexto enriqueziano celebra enterrandola en el ataúd abierto de un perenne irresuelto lingering -, los cadáveres balbuceantes de “Mis muertos tristes”, “Julie”, “Un lugar soleado para gente sombría”, “Los himnos de las hienas” son criaturas entrañables con las que es imposible no empatizar a pesar de la absoluta imposibilidad de establecer con ellos una forma de contacto viable desde el punto de vista político. El sentimiento que domina, en prácticas, todos los cuentos del libro parece ser el de una compasión rendida hacía esa niebla de ecos que remiten a opciones descartadas y del todo increíbles de nuestro presente y promesas incumplidas de futuros gloriosos

No full textEste volumen se propone mapear los rasgos definitorios de un nuevo objeto teórico, el que definimos “fantástico de la globalización” en relación, no sólo, con su contexto de producción —el mundo global creado o inventado para facilitar la circulación ilimitada del Capital— sino también con el hecho de que justamente la globalización, con sus mecanismos de funcionamiento y sus imágenes de referencia, proporcione a les narradores de la nueva ola un repertorio de monstruos y espectros altamente específico, mediante el cual se procede a enseñar el lado oculto y señaladamente oscuro del orden de realidad que estamos adestrados a considerar como una norma irrevocable. La necesidad de aludir problemáticamente a la conformación del espacio global —la difuminación de la oposición centro/periferia, la desorientación producida por el desmantelamiento de los viejos “cobijos de inmunidad regional” útil a alimentar la “esfera artificial de recambio” (en palabras de Peter Sloterdijk), el retiro de la posibilidad misma de individuar un “afuera” con respecto a la que se va conformando como una suerte de “colonia total”— conlleva una revisión profunda de la gramática de un género tradicionalmente fundado en la tematización de una frontera, alrededor de la que se articulaba, a la vez, la amenaza y la posibilidad de lo Otro. En el nuevo ambiente textual, domina, en cambio, lo que Mark Fisher llama “sentimiento de lo erróneo”, un extrañamiento difuso e informe, la sensación de un mundo que chirría sin encontrar una alternativa: en otras palabras, una crítica weird al orden global, el residuo de una utopía política que, desde América latina, procede a enrarecer la transparencia semántica del Imperio
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
