Robert (Bob) Monroe
Robert “Bob” Monroe is a retired engineer and former president of Smith, Monroe, and Gray Engineers. Monroe has served as a member of the George Fox Board of Trustees for many years and is currently an honorary member of the board. He served as chairman of the George Fox Board of Trustees for five years, which is the maximum length of service for a chairman. During this time he was instrumental in bringing president Ed Stevens to George Fox. Robert Laughland, a 1979 George Fox College graduate with a degree in Christian Ministries, had a long career in electronic sales and components. He served on the Alumni Board and served as President of the board. Laugland and his wife, Nancy, were donors to the college. Fox talks about his many interests including archeology, and his treatise on author and friend Charles Bukowski. Robert Fox
Parker-Fox is named after Dr. Robert Fox, Class of 1928, and Eleanor Parker Fox, Class of 1926. Robert was a chemist who graduated with his Bachelor’s degree in 1928, then went on to achieve his Ph.D. in 1934 from Columbia University. He became a professor of chemistry, and when World War II started, he began working for the US Army Chemical Corps.
