Experimental Collage - An Exhibition by Illustration & Animation 1st Year Students from the University of Worcester
In the spring of 2017 Worcester City Art Gallery and Museum very kindly loaned a number of their taxidermied animals to Worcester University’s Illustration and Animation Degree courses. The exhibits were used as inspiring subject matter during a series of 1st year drawing module sessions. Using paper they’d altered with paint, ink, graphite and charcoal the students explored collage and form with excellent results.
The exhibition was curated by Stephen Fowler & Jaime Pard

Phrenology assessment of Stephen E. Meany given by Prof. O.S. Fowler, June 29th, 1865
This phrenological assessment of Stephen E. Meany (father of Edmund S. Meany) was completed in 1865 by Orson Squire Fowler, who was one of the leading phrenologists of the time. The assessment indicates qualities that Fowler believes Meany to have, and predicts what qualities he will have as an adult if he is raised properly. It suggests the type of woman he should marry and what type of business he should enter. Fowler says Meany is incredibly intelligent, will be a great orator, and will excel in the humanities.Phrenology is a theory which claimed to determine character via examining the shape of a person's head. Popular in the 19th century, it has since been debunked and is not considered a science. However, in the Victorian period, phrenology was taken quite seriously.
While the document states "Stephen E. Meany," the date of 1865 is indicative that this is actually an assessment of Edmond S. Meany, a noted Seattle figure and influential University of Washington history professor. Meany would have been three years old at the time of this assessment
