Facing Death Honestly: Author-Developed Psychological Support Practice

    No full text
This OSF project documents the author-developed psychological support practice “Facing Death Honestly” (Russian original: «Со смертью на ты»), created by Valery Kravitz between 2021 and 2025. The practice is designed as a structured psychological support intervention for individuals confronting awareness of life’s finitude due to severe illness, existential crises, or other significant life events. The project provides documentation of the theoretical foundations, structured session protocol, ethical framework, and supporting materials of the practice. Data Supporting 'When things don’t add up: quantifying impacts of multiple stressors from individual metabolism to ecosystem processing'

These data were produced with an individual-based model of amphipod populations exposed to combinations of hypothetical stressors. Stressors targeted feeding, reproduction, maintenance and growth processes in individual amphipods. We measured body sizes and cumulative reproduction in each individual in the simulation, population abundance and biomass and, finally, amount of unprocessed leaf litter which was consumed by the amphipods. Files contain 20 year time series of those endpoints in different stressor combinations; each combinations was replicated 50 times.Galic, Nika; Sullivan, Lauren L; Grimm, Volker; Forbes, Valery E. Data supporting "Adverse impacts of hypoxia on aquatic invertebrates: A meta-analysis"

    No full text
Data were gathered from published, peer-reviewed studies, either copying if in tabular form or digitizing if they were plotted, using DataThief shareware which extracts data points from plots. Endpoints were measured in different ways and units, which were not immediately comparable across taxa and systems. We therefore normalized the extracted data by scaling measurements in different treatments to control, i.e. normoxic conditions. When controls were reported as averages with standard deviations, we used the value of the mean and one standard deviation for scaling. For studies testing impacts of oxygen and temperature, we scaled measured endpoints to normoxic conditions for each temperature treatment. If experiments reported results for different periods of time, we also scaled treatment results to control for each tested period. The data set on responses of aquatic invertebrates to hypoxia was created by extracting and digitizing data from published studies. The raw data were scaled to controls (i.e., high levels of oxygen). The work was funded by the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, College of Biological SciencesGalic, Nika; Hawkins, Tanner; Forbes, Valery E.. Individual-Based-Model used in "Population context matters: predicting effects of metabolic stress mediated by food availability and predation with an agent- and energy budget-based model"

This is the programming software code of the model developed to investigate the population-level impacts of a hypothetical, sublethal stressor that can affect an individual’s metabolism (growth, reproduction, maintenance, or assimilation) in systems in which population size is controlled by different combinations of food availability and predation pressure. The life cycle of fathead minnow (Pimephales promelas) is describe through their metabolism, using the Dynamic Energy Budget theory (DEB) and we represent the populations through an Individual-Based Model (IBM).United States Fisheries and Wildlife Service - Cooperative Agreement Award F17AC00269Vaugeois, Maxime; Accolla, Chiara; Venturelli, Paul A; Forbes, Valery E; Hummel, Stephanie L. Reformen på RUC er en stor chance for en genetablering af RUCs tradition for projektorientering, tværfaglighed og samfundsrelevans. Postmortem immunohistochemical stain of respiratory part histological sections was methods. Result: epithelial immunofenotype of epithelial cells was determinate in more cases. Conclusion. The epitelial-mesenchimal transition does not play main role to lungs fibrosis in ARDS. Keywords: respiratory epitelium; lungs; distress-syndrome.Novikov Nikolay, Tumansky Valery, Fedotov Vasiliy.
