    [[abstract]]In 1975, Chiang Kai Shek Memorial Hall was established as the first national performing arts center in memory of the former president Chang Kai-Shek. However, this organization had not been granted a decided status because of the limitation of the administration organization system and lots of laws until the year of 1992 when it was officially named National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center. Afterward, its system was assessed many times in order to go with the international trend and domestic opinion; then the Administrative Corporation was passed by the Executive Yuan at the Third Reading on January 9, 2004. Through this system, the only international performing arts center in Taiwan was reformed and its long-term problem of uncertain status was also solved on March 1, 2004. In this research, I want to probe into the different roles and functions before and after the Administrative Corporation in National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center through literature analysis and deep interview. Besides, I hope to collect opinions and advices from related arts groups, scholars and experts in order to get the best conclusion and suggestion. By literature analysis and deep interview, I find National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center has more different roles after the Administrative Corporation, but it is still not fully- functioned, especially as a broker to business and government. In the part of Future Envision, non-governmental performing arts groups have great expectations to National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center. In sum, non-governmental performing arts groups approve Administrative Corporation of National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center, and they think there are gap between the former and later roles of National Chiang Kai Shek Cultural Center.

    A study of Operation on Multi-author Blogs - A case study of TechSea Blog

    Multi-Author Blog is a kind of blog which is an important source of information on the internet. Unlike the Single-Author Blog that is managed by one author, two or more authors cooperate to write the Multi-Author Blog that becomes popular especially in the online community with the interest on Internet Communication Technology. However, there is none research about the Multi-Author Blog. The aim of this research is to study the operation and management of the Multi-Author Blog. The author performed a case study and operated a Multi-Author Blog for seven months to approach the research purpose. For the case study, the author designed a field interview with the management team of \ue2TechOrange\ue2 that is a famous IT Multi-Author Blog in Taiwan in order to understand the related issues. For the implementation, the author built of a Multi-Author Blog named \ue2TechSea\ue2 and collected associated website data. The research observed that the number of words in an article and the link to news have influences on the blog pageviews. In addition, the social media like Facebook helps to increase pageviews. Furthermore, the case study of TechOrange summarized the experiences and insights of the editorial team. The research results provide authors or managers of Multi-Author Blogs some answers about business operation of the online social media

    [[abstract]]根據美國、巴西與澳洲長期的研究顯示:約90%的溺水原因是裂流,台灣每年約有200人死於溺水意外(2004年觀光局統計),其中15%為海濱溺水,但溺水原因的相關研究則少。北海岸海灘是距離大台北都會區最近的美麗沙灘,每年吸引眾多的遊客,海灘安全性的評估可說是非常重要,因此本研究以北海岸為研究區,探討其遊憩空間的安全性。 本研究應用Wright and Short(1984)所提出的海灘地形動力分類方法,依長期航照判讀、年內海灘實測與突發事件前後海灘實測,將北海岸海灘分類;再運用各項北海岸海陸象營力數值,找出海灘類型與指標性營力之間的關係;接著使用海灘安全性評分指標,為北海岸海灘安全性評分,並標出研究所得的裂流較常出現的位置;最後利用上述評分與海陸象營力指標,找出北海岸海灘的最適遊憩時空間。得到的結果歸納如下:1.北海岸海灘在夏半年多為中間偏反射型,冬半年多為中間偏消散型。2.北海岸海灘類型與北海岸海灘該地陸象風速呈現正相關。3.白沙灣海灘的最適開放空間為海灣最東側,海灘入口區東側(第5區)中寬廣的沙洲上;金山海灘的最適開放空間為海灣最東側,靠近磺港防波堤(第6區)中寬廣的沙洲上。4.白沙灣海灘夏半年平常狀況的日子是安全的;冬半年11、12與2月有一半以上的天數海灘呈現消散型,危險性評分有8分,是一高危險性的海灘,不適宜開放,其它的月份海水浴場經營者仍須特別注意海灘的狀況,當觀察到裂流時,需特別廣播警告遊客,當風速>2.5m/s時,海水浴場經營者應視當時海灘情況考慮是否關閉。5.金山海灘夏半年平常狀況的日子是安全的;冬半年10-3月不適宜開放。

    Mobile-app-based assistant for freshmen with telegram APIs

    In this project, the development of the Telegram-based chatbot, “Hey! NTU” bot, aims to provide readily available online support and resource for NTU freshmen. Apart from guiding freshmen to essential and relevant information with its Natural Language Processing (NLP) query response capabilities, the chatbot also allows students to plan and check their academic schedules so that they do not forget any important events. Other useful tools that make daily school life easier are incorporated to provide further assistance. These tools include a to-do list, a calculator, and a timer function. When chatting with the bot, students can expect conventional replies like how a conversation would flow. This all-in-one interactive chatbot helps make freshmen’s transition to NTU smooth sailing. This final year project report details the research, design and development process of the features implemented in the “Hey!     Investigation of silicon nanowires photodetector

    Silicon nanowires (SiNWs) research has intensified over the past decade with the advancement in nanowires fabrication technology. The objectives of this study are to (i) develop a fabrication process to obtain top-down SiNWs with cross-sectional dimensions of 10 nm or less, (ii) characterize the physical structures of the SiNWs, (iii) form SiNWs p+-n+ and p+-p-n+ diodes along the nanowires and (iv) characterize the SiNWs diodes under dark and illuminated conditions to gain an understanding of the nanoscale junction devices. The diodes fabricated consist of multiple SiNWs of 1 μm long connected in parallel, as well as larger dimension bulk diodes that are served as control diodes. Three different batches of diodes were fabricated. Batch 0 samples demonstrated the successful fabrication of SiNWs p+-p-n+ diodes. The subsequent fabrication was to examine the formation of the nanowires and to improve the electrical characteristics of the SiNWs diodes. The silicon fin width and oxidation time were reduced in batch 1 samples fabrication. Silicon oxide was deposited on the SiNWs as passivation, to replace the thermal oxide that was removed for the purpose of inspection. The last round of fabrication was to reduce the high leakage current observed in batch 1 diodes. The batch 2 samples have either deposited or thermal oxides as passivation for the SiNWs. The dopant activation time was reduced from 20 s to 5 s in batch 2 samples.Master of Engineerin

    Ph.D.Sodium ion batteries (SIBs) are promising alternative for lithium ion batteries, due to the high abundance and wide distribution of sodium sources in the earth thus the lower price than the lithium source. In the present thesis, we have investigated several P-based anodes for SIBs.We start our study with tin phosphide (Sn₄P₃). Using the solution-liquid-solid (SLS) method, we have synthesized the phase pure Sn₄P₃ nanotops. The electrochemical performance of them are also performed, we find that they mainly suffer from the fading of the cycle stability. Ex-situ XRD reveals that the Sn aggregation contributes to this fading, other reasons could be the volume expansion and the unstable solid electrolyte interface (SEI).We then try to introduce the second phase SbSn to address the issues of the Sn₄P₃. We propose to make a Sn₄P₃@SbSn core-shell structure, however, the obtained Sn4P3/SbSn composites show side by side structure. Even though, the obtained performance of this composite is still better than that for the phase pure Sn₄P₃ anode.We also make a ternary phosphide, Cu₄SnP₁₀, we expect that introducing Cu would help to address the problems of either Sn or P. It's the first time for us to find the anode reactivity of this phosphide for SIBs. Phase pure Cu₄SnP₁₀ nanowires show high capacities of ~800 mA h g⁻¹ but limited cycle stability. We then make the Cu₄SnP₁₀ /MWCNTs composites for longer cycle stability anode.Different from forming phosphide, we finally investigate the P composites based materials, including the P-Ti-C and P-TiO₂-C composites. The local chemistry of P in those composites is manipulated. P-Ti-C shows the longest cycle stability among all investigated samples (~220ᵗʰ with capacity of ~400 mA h g⁻¹). Due to the low P ratio, the capacity of the P-Ti-C is limited.     On the Possibility of Husserl's Theory of Intersubjectivity: Return from Ideas II to Cartesian Meditations

    The main research work in this thesis is to organize the intersubjectivity of Husserl\ue2s theory and to study the two documents of \ue2Ideas II\ue2 and \ue2Cartesian Meditations\ue2 which translate and reorganize the part of intersubjectiveity. The author talks about the \ue2Cartesian Meditations\ue2 first, the late publication, then \ue2Ideas II\ue2 and try to use a reverse method, form transcendental to empiricial, to explore the possibility of intersubjectivity and the trace of the phenomenology in French toward ethics and aesthetics. In addition, author organizes Schutz\ue2s criticism of intersubjectivity of the transcendental theory to contrast with the Husserl\ue2s viewpoint and poses the refutation of Schutz\ue2s criticism in the final part of this thesis. What is the possibility of intersubjectivity? This thesis itself has not been able to provide the concrete opinion. The author poses the "less then contented" as a basis of intersubjectivity, but it only retains in the appendix for the purposes of reference because of its lack of theoretical basis and the persuasiveness

    语言是人类无法缺少的交际工具。世界上的任何一种语言都会随着所接触到的社会环境而有所改变。新加坡是一个多文化多语言国家,新加坡华语也逐渐形成具有本土特色的语言。本研究以“然后”和 then 为例,探讨他们在新 加坡华语口语的扩展语用功能。根据前人研究,“然后”一词在现代汉语口语中的语用功能有所增加,然而针对新加坡华语口语中“然后”的探讨极少。因此,本文使用新加坡华语口语的语料库对“然后”的语用功能进行分析,并观察其与中国普通话里语用功能的异同。笔者发现,“然后”在新加坡华语口语中有作为填补词的功能,这项功能在中国普通话里较为少见。“然后”的英语对应词 then 也经常出现于新加坡华语语境中,因此本研究也在语料库基础上探讨并比较两者在语用功能上的异同。笔者发现 then 在新加坡口语中还可经常用于表达疑问,而“然后”尚不具备该功能。Language is an important communication tool of human beings. Any language in the world will be affected by the social environment it comes into contact with and changes accordingly. In a multi-cultural and multi-language country like Singapore, Singapore Chinese also forms into a language with local characteristics. This study uses ranhou and “then” as examples to explore their increased pragmatic functions in the context of Singapore spoken Chinese. According to previous research, there is a phenomenon of increased pragmatic functions of ranhou in Mainland Chinese, but no such research has been carried out on Singapore spoken Chinese. Therefore, this thesis uses the corpus of spoken Singapore Chinese, and observes for any difference between the pragmatic functions of ranhou in Mainland Chinese and Singapore spoken Chinese. This study finds that ranhou in the latter can be used as a discourse filler, whereas this function was less observed in the China Mandarin context. Then, the corresponding word for ranhou in English, is also frequently used in Singapore Chinese conversation. Therefore, this thesis also analyzes “then” that appears in the corpus and compares the functional differences between “then” and ranhou. It is found that “then” can be used as a question marker, while ranhou does not possess this pragmatic function.Bachelor of Art

    Interface engineering of electronic properties of graphene/boron nitride lateral heterostructures

    Heterostructures are often expected to be of enhanced electronic properties compared with homogeneous ones. Valuable experimental efforts have been devoted to the fabrication of graphene/hexagonal boron nitride (hBN) lateral heterostructures. It has been shown that abrupt interface between graphene and hBN could form in a controllable manner at the atomic scale. We thus investigate the electronic properties of such new hybrid structures by systematically considering possible interface configurations. Our results obtained with density-functional theorem reveal that interface has significant impact on electronic properties. Specifically, for heterostructures with a zigzag type of interface, electronic states are found to be spin-polarized, and a half-metallic phase is identified when the graphene domain is terminated with zigzag edges. For heterostructures with an armchair type of interface, electronic states display a robust semiconducting behavior.
