Cinética química na prática: experimentos com materiais alternativos para alunos do ensino médio
Get PDFChemistry teaching should go beyond simply conveying content, integrating concepts with everyday reality and fostering the development of investigative skills and critical thinking. To this end, active methodologies and the use of experiments with accessible materials make classes more dynamic and promote student understanding. In this context, Chemical Kinetics stands out as a particularly suitable topic for this approach, as it allows for hands-on experiments that illustrate the factors that influence the rate of chemical reactions. Therefore, this study aims to investigate the learning developed through experiments with alternative materials addressing Chemical Kinetics in high school. This study involved 17 sophomores from a public school in Amazonas, using a qualitative and quantitative approach. Therefore, an initial questionnaire was administered to assess prior knowledge of chemical kinetics, followed by a lecture with everyday examples and questions such as "What can make a chemical reaction occur faster or slower?" to stimulate students' critical thinking. The students then participated in five hands-on experiments using accessible materials to investigate factors that influence the rate of chemical reactions, such as temperature, concentration, and catalysts, including an integrated activity called "Iodine Clock." The results revealed that during the experimental activities with accessible materials, students demonstrated greater interest and participation, demonstrating curiosity and initiative in exploring the factors that influence the rate of chemical reactions, especially in the iodine clock experiment. Experimentation proved to be an essential teaching resource for connecting theory and practice, promoting reflection and motivation. There was also a positive change in students' attitudes toward assessments, with students becoming more confident and engaged in the final questionnaire. A comparative analysis of the initial and final questionnaires revealed significant improvements in content comprehension, with a considerable increase in correct answers and a reduction in incomplete or blank answers. Questions that previously had low performance, such as the application of the concept of temperature in everyday life, showed significant improvements after the questions were reformulated and contextualized. Despite progress, some difficulties persist, particularly in integrating different chemical kinetics concepts into practical contexts, indicating the need to continue investing in pedagogical practices that promote critical thinking and contextualization of content. The application of the teaching sequence demonstrated significant advances in student learning of chemical kinetics, especially in concepts such as catalyst, temperature, and contact surface. The combination of theory and practice with alternative materials sparked interest and encouraged participation. Although some difficulties persisted, the results indicate that the use of investigative methodologies is effective, even in resource-poor contexts. The development of accessible teaching guides and sequences is recommended to support teachers and enhance learning.O ensino de Química deve ir além da simples transmissão de conteúdos, integrando conceitos à realidade do cotidiano e promovendo o desenvolvimento de habilidades investigativas e pensamento crítico. Para isso, metodologias ativas e o uso de experimentos com materiais acessíveis tornam as aulas mais dinâmicas e favorecem a compreensão dos alunos. Nesse contexto, a Cinética Química destaca-se como um tema especialmente adequado para essa abordagem, pois permite a realização de experiências práticas que ilustram os fatores que influenciam a velocidade das reações químicas. Assim, este trabalho tem como objetivo de investigar as aprendizagens desenvolvidas por meio de experimentos com materiais alternativos abordando Cinética Química no ensino médio. Este estudo envolveu 17 alunos do 2º ano do ensino médio de uma escola pública no Amazonas, usando uma abordagem quali- quanti. Sendo assim, inicialmente, aplicouse um questionário inicial para avaliar o conhecimento prévio sobre cinética química, seguido de uma aula expositiva com exemplos do cotidiano e perguntas como "O que pode fazer uma reação química acontecer mais rápido ou mais devagar?" com o intuito de estimular o pensamento crítico dos alunos. Em seguida, os alunos participaram de cinco experimentos práticos, usando materiais acessíveis, para investigar fatores que influenciam a velocidade das reações químicas, como temperatura, concentração e catalisadores, incluindo uma atividade integrada chamada “Relógio de Iodo”. Os resultados obtidos revelaram que durante as atividades experimentais com materiais acessíveis, observou-se maior interesse e participação dos alunos, que demonstraram curiosidade e iniciativa ao explorar os fatores que influenciam a velocidade das reações químicas, especialmente no experimento do relógio de iodo. A experimentação provou ser um recurso didático essencial para conectar teoria e prática, promovendo reflexão e motivação. Também houve uma mudança positiva na postura dos estudantes em relação às avaliações, onde no questionário final, eles estavam mais confiantes e participativos. A análise comparativa dos questionários inicial e final revelou melhorias significativas na compreensão dos conteúdos, com aumento considerável nos acertos e redução de respostas incompletas ou em branco. Questões que antes apresentavam baixo desempenho, como a aplicação do conceito de temperatura no cotidiano, mostraram avanços marcantes após a reformulação e contextualização das perguntas. Apesar dos progressos, algumas dificuldades persistem, principalmente na integração de diferentes conceitos da cinética química em contextos práticos, indicando a necessidade de continuar investindo em práticas pedagógicas que promovam o pensamento crítico e a contextualização do conteúdo. A aplicação da sequência didática mostrou avanços significativos na aprendizagem dos alunos em cinética química, especialmente em conceitos como catalisador, temperatura e superfície de contato. A combinação entre teoria e prática com materiais alternativos despertou o interesse e favoreceu a participação. Embora algumas dificuldades tenham persistido, os resultados indicam que o uso de metodologias investigativas é eficaz, mesmo em contextos com poucos recursos. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
