Professionalism, golf coaching and a master of science degree
A distinction can be made between 'professionalisation', which is concerned with occupational status and standing, and 'professionalism,' which refers to matters of quality and standards of practice (especially specialized knowledge, ethics and altruism). The purpose of this stimulus article is to present key features of contemporary medical professionalism as a basis for critically reflecting on discourse associated with Tiger Woods' current coach, Sean Foley. It is suggested that that provision of a Master of Science degree in golf teaching/coaching would facilitate the development of 'professionalism' in golf coaches
The effect of crystal orientation on the wetting behaviour of silicate melts on the surfaces of spinel peridotite minerals
The effect of crystal anisotropy on wetting angles of equilibrium silicate melts on crystal faces of spinet, diopside. enstatite and olivine has been determined experimentally by the sessile melt drop technique. The anisotropy (A) over tilde gamma(SL), of solid-liquid interfacial energies (gamma(SL) (max')-gamma(SL) (min)) can be related to the wetting angles, psi, by (A) over tilde gamma(SL) proportional to \cos psi (max) - cos psi (min)\ = Pw ((A) over tilde gamma(SL)). Normalising to the smallest wetting angle gives values of P-w for diopside = 0.0728, olivine = 0.0574, orthopyroxene=0.01521, and spinel=0.0075. Crystal anisotropy influences grain-scale morphology of small-degree partial melts. permeability and the melt connectivity threshold, phi(c). Results show that, at sufficient melt fractions. diopside should increase permeability in a peridotitic matrix, whereas enstatite should lower it. Despite its low anisotropy, spinet contributes positively to permeability and phi(c) because of its high surface energies. These results suggest that harzburgitic mineral matrices typical of the suberatonic mantle should impede the movement of low-degree partial melts, whereas melts should flow more easily through spinet lherzolites
A Multi-Language Comparison of Influences on Author Verification using Character N-Grams
We create a new multi-language corpus for author verification based on Wikipedia talkpages, and evaluate the influence that differences in topic and time have on character n-gram author profiles. Topic alignment between two texts is found to increase author verification precision, and an authors writing style is found to change over time, but not more significantly after 3 years than after 1 year.Information ArchitectureWISElectrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Scienc
Edgeworth and Lindahl-Foley equilibria of a general equilibrium model with private provision of pure public goods
In this paper, we propose a definition of Edgeworth equilibrium for a private ownership production economy with (possibly infinitely) many private goods and a finite number of pure public goods. We show that Edgeworth equilibria exist whatever be the dimension of the private goods space, and can be decentralized, in the finite and infinite dimensional cases, as Lindahl-Foley equilibria. Existence theorems for Lindahl-Foley equilibria are a by-product of our results.production economy; public goods; Edgworth equilibrium; Lindahl-Foley equilibrium; proper economy
Factorial characters of the classical Lie groups
Just as the definition of factorial Schur functions as a ratio of determinants allows one to show that they satisfy a Jacobi–Trudi-type identity and have an explicit combinatorial realisation in terms of semistandard tableaux, so we offer here definitions of factorial irreducible characters of the classical Lie groups as ratios of determinants that share these two features. These factorial characters are each specified by a partition, λ=(λ1,λ2,…,λn), and in each case a flagged Jacobi–Trudi identity is derived that expresses the factorial character as a determinant of corresponding factorial characters specified by one-part partitions, (m), for which we supply generating functions. These identities are established by manipulating determinants through the use of certain recurrence relations derived from these generating functions. The transitions to combinatorial realisations of the factorial characters in terms of tableaux are then established by means of non-intersecting lattice path models. The results apply to gl(n), so(2n+1), sp(2n) and o(2n), and are extended to the case of so(2n) by making use of newly defined factorial difference characters.</p
Carbolithiation of S-Alkenyl-N-aryl Thiocarbamates: Carbanion Arylation in a Connective Route to Tertiary Thiols
S-Alkenyl-N-arylthiocarbamates are formed from allylic alcohols by sigmatropic rearrangement and isomerization or C═C bond cleavage. They undergo carbolithiation with a range of organolithium reagents, generating benzyllithium intermediates in a stereospecific manner which may undergo N to C aryl migration to yield thiocarbamates with tertiary substituents. A simple base-promoted alcoholysis reveals a series of hindered tertiary thiols with branched carbon skeletons
In the present work of degree, it is intended to expose the process carried out to develop a mono Foley generator algorithm from text, with the use of algorithms belonging to deep learning. It can be finally determined that the performance of the algorithm during the training stage was as expected and additionally, that as the sample rate of the data used for the training stage increases, the generated audios obtained a better subjective score due to their similarity with the reference categories.PregradoIngeniero de Sonid

The Use of the Foley Catheter in Controlling Severe Uterine Haemorrhage in Gynaecological Practice
Three patients with severe uterine bleeding were managed successfully by intracavitary insertion and distension of Foley catheter balloons. Blood transfusion was averted in the first patient and reduced to 2 units in the second, while imminent maternal death was prevented in the third case. The availability of the Foley catheter and minimal requirements for its use, coupled with lack of untoward effects in cases managed, make the procedure a useful one.
Key Words: Uterus, Haemorrhage, Foley Catheter.
