Groupware and the simulation consultant
No full textThe paper recognises that good communication and interaction are key factors to the success of a simulation project and suggests that groupware technology can increase the chances of success. To underline this, the paper reviews the process of simulation to illustrate the amount of communication and interaction that must take place during a simulation project. The paper then discusses computer supported cooperative work and groupware, a research field and information technology that has successfully supported communication and interaction in other industries. To illustrate how groupware may by used by the simulation consultant, net-conferencing, exemplified by Microsoft's NetMeeting, is presented. The paper ends with some observations on the future of these applications in simulation modelling
COMPOSIÇÃO TECIDUAL DO LOMBO DE CORDEIROS DORPER X SANTA INÊS TERMINADOS EM DIFERENTES SISTEMAS
No full textO objetivo do presente estudo foi avaliar a composição tecidual do lombo de cordeiros mestiços Dorper x Santa Inês terminados em diferentes sistemas de produção. O experimento foi realizado na área experimental da Universidade Tecnológica Federal do Paraná (UTFPR) Campus Dois Vizinhos/PR, com início em dezembro de 2016 e término em março de 2017, totalizando 117 dias. Foram utilizados 24 cordeiros não castrados, mestiços entre o cruzamento das raças Dorper x Santa Inês, com peso vivo médio de 20 kg-1. Os tratamentos avaliados foram: terminação em pastagem tropical (Panicum maximum cv. Aruana), sem sombreamento + suplementação alimentar (n=8); terminação em pastagem tropical (Panicum maximum cv. Aruana), com sombreamento + suplementação alimentar (silvipastoril) (n=8) e terminação em confinamento (n=8). A alimentação, em todos os tratamentos, foi fornecida duas vezes ao dia, correspondendo a 50% às 8 horas e o restante às 15 horas. Para o procedimento de dissecação, os lombos foram pesados e embalados com sacos plásticos armazenados em freezer a -20ºC. Os cortes cárneos (lombo), foram retirados 24 horas antes do processo de dissecação e descongelados em geladeira a aproximadamente 10ºC, logo após, foram pesados e dissecados com auxílio de bisturi e pinça. O delineamento experimental utilizado foi o inteiramente casualizado, com três tratamentos e quatro repetições. As análises foram realizadas com o auxílio do pacote estatístico SAS 9.1 (2001), PROC ANOVA, adotando-se o nível de significância de 5% e as médias, quando diferentes, submetidas ao teste de Tukey a 5%. O peso e as porcentagens de osso, músculo e gordura, não apresentaram diferença significativa entre os animais terminados no confinamento, pastagem de aruana sem e com sombreamento (silvipastoril). Portanto, se verificou que a relação entre os tecidos ósseos, musculares e gordura dos cordeiros não foram afetados pelos tratamentos avaliados. Entretanto, o sistema de confinamento apresenta melhor desenvolvimento dos animais quando comparados aos sistemas de pastagem de aruana sem e com sombreamento
