Tra interrogazione e silenzio : la tematizzazione dell'origine nell'ermeneutica di Edmond Jabès

    No full text
The paper focuses on the link between the hermeneutic conception of Edmond Jabès and the way in which, in his work, beginning from interrogation and silence, he treats the theme of origin. Particularly - also in the light of the tragic event of the Shoah - the author underlines how Jabès tries to break the traditional image of divinity. Through numerous rhetorical devices, Jabès loads with contradictory attributions the term "God", emptying it of every meaning. Nevertheless, having cleared the field from every possible categorization, the divin nothing and silence of the origin emerge as the privileged place where sense is born, assuring in their potentiality the infinite polysemy of the text and representing the archetype of the ethics underlying every hermeneutic act

Architectural Young Classics: A sustainable reuse strategy for administrative office buildings of the 1970s and 1980s

    No full text
The office architecture of the 1970s and 1980s makes up a large part of Dutch office building stock, at about 30%. Most buildings are now in need of major renovation and often no longer correspond to today's aesthetic perception. In addition, the function of the buildings must be adapted to today's needs and technological standards. This is not least due to the rapidly changing world of work, especially after the climax of the Corona pandemic. In order to prevent the possible destruction of buildings or building parts with a potential to become protected heritage, this master project offers a first approach to collecting characteristics of this period for heritage and sustainability reasons. A focus is placed on those that lend themselves to a particularly sustainable strategy, as the study shows that the early sustainability movement of the 1970s also left its mark on the construction methods of the time. The results together with the results of a value assessment are applied to the adaptive re-design of the police building in the Mathildelaan in Eindhoven. Further, aspects with a particular sustainability perspective are incorporated in an extension. In this way, the existing building is integrated into a modern urban context.Architecture, Urbanism and Building Sciences | Heritage & Architectur

Four essays on hidden risks into the global financial architecture

The doctoral dissertation of Laura Gianfagna, Ph.D. Candidate in Economics at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca, is submitted at IMT School for Advanced Studies Lucca. The original research thesis studies unsolicited weak points of the current Global Financial Architecture and unknown sources of financial contagion. The dissertation provides policy advice and innovative methodologies to improve the current financial supervisory monitoring. The main topics covered are credit risk and financial risk. On the credit risk side, the author addresses two issues: a lack of regulatory supervision for Multilateral Development Banks and a model risk that the economic capital calculation for portfolio credit risk and the regulatory capital calculation for counterparty credit risk have in common. On the financial risk side, the thesis estimates a significant impact of corporate control on stock market volatility. The empirical investigation confers the right to exist to an entity acting on financial market prices through the property channel, in parallel to business groups. An innovative methodology is then applied to the Interest Rate Swap market to detect correlation and co–movements among its subclasses aggregated by contractual characteristics. All the results contribute to the research literature on early warning triggers for systemic risk
