    No full text
New complexes with Schiff bases and ZnX2(X =C1. I) have been synthesized. Infrared, CIMS (NH3) and 13C-NMR studies have been used in order to elucidate their structures. © 1988, Taylor & Francis Group, LLC. All rights reserved

Syntheses, stereochemistry, and inclusion properties of new spirocyclophosphazenes

    No full text
The syntheses and characterization of new spirocyclophosphazenes is reported. Variable-temperature n.m.r. measurements strongly suggest the presence of only one isomer for our compounds. Only tris-(3-methoxyphenyl-1,2-dioxy) phosphonitrile trimer has been found to form clathrate compounds with cyclohexene, n-heptane, and 1,2-dichloroethane

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

FREESCOO facade 3.0, a compact DEC thermally driven air-conditioning system for apartments

FREESCOO is an innovative Desiccant Evaporative Cooling air conditioning system designed for ventilation, cooling, dehumidification and heating of buildings in residential and tertiary sectors. This paper presents the third generation of the façade version, which will be tested on field in Milan (Italy) within the Merezzate+ project supported by Climate-KIC. The adsorption bed used by the system is a finned heat exchanger packed with silica gel grains, which allows simultaneous dehumidification and cooling of the process air. The direct evaporative cooling process, operated downstream to the dehumidification, is realized using a rotary plate humidifier. The regeneration of the adsorption bed is done through low-grade heat around 60 °C and the only electrical consumption is for the fans and water recirculation. The unit has been designed in order to be integrated in the loggia of small apartments of roughly 47 m2. The result is a Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio around 10.7. From the primary energy savings perspective with respect to a conventional air conditioning, they can be up to 36% if the electricity generation is not renewable heavy or the district heating has a renewable energy quota

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

    I dizionari di musica

    No full text

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

Crystal structure determination of an addition complex of N-isopropyl-salicylaldimine with zinc iodide and of bis(N-isopropyl-salicylaldiminato) zinc chelate

    No full text
The crystal structures of bis(N-isopropyl)-salicylaldiminato zinc iodide [I2Zn(C20H24N2O2)] (adduct 1) and of bis-chelate-N-isopropyl-salicylaldiminato zinc (complex 2) Zn (C20H24N2O2) have been determined at room temperature by X-ray diffraction methods. Adduct 1 crystallizes in space group P21/c with a = 9.229(2), b = 10.610(2), c = 24.711(4)Å, α = Υ = 90°, β = 94.04°, V = 2413.68 Å3, with Z = 4 units. The structure confirms the adduct nature of the compound; it shows an asymmetry with respect to the I —Zn —I plane and some additional disorder in one of the two N-isopropyl groups. Bis-chelate 2 crystallizes in orthorhombic form, space group Pbca, with a = 13.225(2), b = 19.476(2), c = 15.155(4) Å,V =3903.47 Å3,with Z = 8 units. The structure consists of monomeric units in which the zinc atom shows slightly distorted tetrahedral geometry. The structures have been solved by direct methods and refined by least- squares calculations to a final R value of 0.0296 for 3146 unique observed reflections [I≥ 3σ(I)] for adduct 1, and to an R value of 0.0339 for 2376 unique observed reflections for bis-chelate 2. © by R.
