Archeologia subacquea nelle Marche.
This paper focuses on the conservation of the underwater archaeological heritage of the shorelines and sea of the region Marche. Departing from the fortuitous discovery of the famous athlete statue in 1964, the main archaeological sites investigated through excavations or survey activities are presented. The numerous sites include the wreck of the so-called “galleon” of Pesaro, later identified as a 19th-century vessel; the Roman shipwreck of Palombina Vecchia (Ancona); the Roman findings discovered on several occasions on the seabed near Torrette di Ancona; the shipwreck of the pirofregata (steam frigate) “Torquato Tasso” (1860), recently investigated in the sea off San Benedetto del Tronto; the fishpond-vivarium of Pietralacroce di Ancona, datable between the 1st and the 3rd century AD. Finally, we present an interesting graffiti bearing a naval scene, engraved on a brick covering a burial datable between the end of the 3rd and the half of the 2nd century B.C., from one of the necropolises of Sirolo-Numana
Numana and its ancient territory: new data and research perspectives
Numana is one of the most important centers for the Picenian civilization and prospered in the Marche and Abruzzo regions during the Iron Age. Almost all of the archaeological evidence found until now refers to the necropoleis spread over a broad territory, while data concerning inhabited areas are quite scarce. Although findings are plenty, the study of Ancient Numana is quite incomplete. As a matter of fact, all the published materials are related to single burials or finds and there are no overall studies on its territory. A recent research project involving a wider sector of the largest Numana necropolis (Quagliotti-Davanzali), has not been published yet but offers a detailed description since the excavation documentation is available. The project sets out to consider burials as organized systems, offering information on cultural transformations and on the social organization of the ancient community. The systematic analysis of the data from the burial and the single funerary sets - to be organized in a specific GIS - will be accompanied by an investigation of the ancient landscape in its many components - necropolis and inhabited area - in its diachronic development, thanks to the results of other recent analyses carried out in the Numana territory (geomorphology, GIS of the archaeological map, new surveys of the territory). The scope of the project is therefore to analyze times, ways of arrangements, shapes of the Ancient Numana, in its definition of a territorial, inhabited, rural space, by using methods and techniques to record and read new data, to build knowledge in a scenario which can be integrated with results coming from future research

Electron density profiles at charged metal surfaces in the weighted density approximation
We present a selfconsistent calculation of the electron distribution at metal surfaces in thepresence of a static electric field in the semi-infinite jellium model. The calculation is based on theHohenberg-Kohn-Sham theory with a nonlocal approximation for the exchange-correlationenergy and potential. For different metallic density r s = 2, 3, 4 we present numerical results for themean position and the spread of the induced charge density. The results for the centroid of thecharge induced by a small field are discussed and compared with the image plane position valuesobtained from the exchange-correlation potential
SIMPLE METAL-SURFACES AND IMAGE POTENTIAL STATES
The surfaces of Al and Na are simple systems, but they show several important features like surface states and image resonances. Using the weighted density approximation within the density functional theory we are able to account self-consistently for image effects in the description of their electronic properties
The present contribution deals with Numana in the Hellenistic period (IIIth - IInd century b.C.), analyzing archaeological data from the funerary landscape, as this underwent important transformations in that period. We examine archaeological evi- dence from the southern area of Davanzali necropolis, comparing records from old and new excavations. A significant in- scription was found in this necropolis: it can probably be linked to the construction of defensive walls for the settlement. Some tracts of the walls were found in the recently excavated adjacent necropolis (Via Peschiera). The archaeological data examined refer also to the subsquent historical phase (end of IIIth - middle of IInd century b.C.), when Rome intervened and acquired control over this territory

Nuove ricerche sui contesti funerari di Numana: temi, metodi e prospettive di ricerca
After describing the distribution of funerary contests in ancient Numana, this contribution considers funerary architecture, particularly circular formations and the most monumental tombs, passing then to examine aspects of the funerary ritual in its main articulations. The second part of the contribution concerns methodology and the first results of the ongoing project in the Davanzali necropolis, outlining the future research perspectives
