This thesis presents a strain mapping in nanostructure Al2O3/TiO2 ceramic coatings on metallic Titanium substrates by synchrotron radiation. The mapping is obtained under various boundary conditions (tension/compression loads, four-point bending, etc.) and is accomplished using high energy (deeply penetrating) synchrotron white radiation with photon energies up to 200 keV to perform high precision x-ray diffraction on small volumes (1 µm to a few cm), which are then integrated into high resolution 3D maps of the strain fields. Strain mapping in conventional micro-size ceramic coatings are performed for comparison. The underlining structural and functional parameters in processing of these coatings, which result in dramatic improvements in their performance, are discussed. The thesis also presents mechanical properties such as elastic modulus, yield strength, etc., which are deduced from energy dispersive X-ray diffraction (EDXRD) strain mapping in conjunction with modeling.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Nazia Ikram Ahmed

Anahtar sözcükler: Komeleyi İslami, Şia, Sünnilik, Kuzey Irak, Karizmatik Lider ii ABSTRACT The research has been subjected to the Komaleyi Islami operating in northern Iraq. Due to the facts that they are originated in the same hinterland and that they have once worked together or at least have been influenced, the rest of the Islamic movements have also been included into the research. Existed Islamic movements in the northern Iraq have been considered in this line. By taking social, cultural, historical and political conditions in which they have evolved into consideration, the research have sought to be examined the Komaleyi Islami and other Islamic movements. Under these circumstances, particularly the northern Iraq has been analysed together with its historical and geographic conditions. This region has emerged, since being a trans- region, as a field of social, cultural and political transformations in both pre and post- Islamic ages. Throughout the Islamic age, heterodox denominations, Shia and Sunni have been valid variations. Because of that, as a trans-region and a place in which various religions and denominations has been encountered, the northern Iraq has emerged as where Sunni sectarians have been prevailing it has been examined that to what extend Sunnism has influenced on the Komaleyi Islami and other Islamic movements. The research field has been operated within this conceptual framework. Islamic age is fundamental point of the research. Since Kurds, Turcoman and Arabs are ethnic subjects of the region; they are also included and considered into the research. In the research, Ali Beqir, himself, the founder and leader of the Komeleyi Islami, consists of substantial part. It is being talked of him by shedding lights on his charismatic leader portrait affecting the emergence and evolution of the movement. Key Words: Komeleyi Islami, Shia, Sunnism, Northern Iraq, Charismatic Leade

In this study, secular and Islamist actors operating in the Iraqi Kurdish region are addressed. The research regarding to mentioned actors is a qualitative study. Because of that, interviews are conducted, official documents as primary sources are obtained and examined and visual and written internet sources are scanned, downloaded and archived as virtual ethnographic method. Secular and Islamist actors which are considered having distinctive ontological ground have been influential on social, cultural changes and evolutions in the Kurdish region. It is seen that these actors have intercepted sometimes in conflicts and sometimes in compromise. In the process of reconstruction of religious and ethnic identities, ontological distinction reveals as core matter. However, such an ontological distinction could not prevent the emergence of hybrid identities. It is observed that, being quite influential on formation of Kurdish ethnic identity, secular and Islamist actors come close on the theme of national conscience but differentiate each other on the theme of religious identity. In this regard, the research aims to discover changes and evolutions occurring in the process of emerging hybrid identities. Kurdish secularism and Kurdish Islamism are composing categorical framework of the research in the context of Iraqi Kurds. As these actors are functioning as political parties in the region, it can be argued that their social appearance is clear and sound and this made related documents of the actors accessible

In January 1831, the Parisian printer Firmin Didot published a Manifesto announcing the imminent publication of the Egyptian and Nubian monuments by Jean-François Champollion and Ippolito Rosellini, based on the notes and images made during the 1828–29 Franco-Tuscan expedition (see p. 22). It contained a description of the work, equally divided between the French and the Italians, to be organised in three parts, to include albums of plates and volumes of texts in French and Italian, and to be issued in a series of fascicles. The death of Champollion in 1832, and subsequent conflicts between his brother Champollion-Figeac and Rosellini, stymied the joint project. Rosellini thus published his Monumenti dell’Egitto e della Nubia alone, in the face of many financial and interpersonal problems, between 1832 and his untimely death in 1843. The ninth and last volume of text and the third and last volume of plates, already prepared by the author, were posthumously published in 1844. This monumental work, presenting an extraordinary quantity of textual, archaeological and visual material, has been fundamental for the development of Egyptology in the Italian peninsula. Almost all the important Italian libraries subscribed to its fascicles, as attested by letters that Rosellini himself wrote to librarians and scholars all over Italy, asking them to sign the subscription Manifesto or informing them about the plans for the publication

Being a secular state after centuries under the Islamic sultanate of the Ottoman Empire, Turkey has been challenged by various internal political turmoil and controversies over religion and its relation to the state. As such, fierce debate has become unavoidable for Islamist and revivalist groups that feel discriminated against for practicing Islam in public spaces. This article discusses Salafism and Wahabism in contemporary Turkey, starting from its inception to its da'wah and development strategies in society. The article used a qualitative approach with a literature review. The data was collected from secondary sources, including research results by scholars and various pieces of information in the mass media that emerged during the era of Recep Tayyip Erdogan until 2022. This article scrutinizes (1) the history of the resurgence of Salafism and Wahabism in Turkey due to the influence of the social and political situation; (2) pro-Islamic political policies in the government providing an opportunity for Salafi and Wahabi to develop in Turkey; and (3) the form and strategy of a pro-active and non-confrontational Salafi group in Turkey. This third part is very urgent for this article because it relates to secular Turkey's social, political, and cultural contexts
