Due interpretazioni attuali nella Nachgeschichte di Im Dickicht der Städte di Bertolt Brecht
Starting from the analysis of the metaphorology linked to the thematic field of the conflict, as it is revealed in the fight between the two protagonists of "Im Dickicht der Städte", the author highlights how in Brechtian drama determinate processes of linguistic construction tend towards the recovery, on a formal level, of the civilisation divide which is evident, on a thematic level, in the inhumanity of the fight that the two protagonists engage. Particular attention is paid to the incidence that these aspects have on interlinguistic and intralinguistic translation strategies, on the basis of the staging directed in 1997 by Roberto Ciulli (in Müllheim an der Rühr) and by Federico Tiezzi (in Florence)
The essay analyses the work of one of the most important, discussed, and contradictory authors of the German theatre of the post-war period, an author who lived in the German Democratic Republic. The study regards the modern tragedy in which the story as such does apparently not exist anymore, since it is ‘frozen’ after the disruption of all ideologies. The text is composed by a series of quotations, faithful or reworked self-quotations which are not always immediately detectable, thus rendering the interpretation extremely complicated.
"The Hamletmachine" is the intellectual’s destruction: Hamlet is an intellectual who experiences only nausea and disgust with a world that is unable to change. The original Shakespearian text is turned upside down: Hamlet becomes the symbol of the loss of hope. According to the author, drama is, at the same time, the representation of the necessary collapse and the self-critique of the contemporary intellectual
Übersetzungspraxis und Hermeneutik im Spannungsverhältnis zwischen Vergangenheit und Gegenwart
The article moves from Schleiermacher’s reflection that the hermeneutic method is a necessary component in the life of a cultivated person insofar as we continuously interpret the (not especially complex) discourse of our interlocutors, which clarifies why Hermeneutics sometimes becomes banal if his further observation is not taken into account i.e. that Hermeneutics as a technical method can be applied when the object to be dealt with lends itself to being treated with hermeneutic methods.
Translators became aware of the importance of Hermeneutics for their work when translation evolved into an academic discipline and had to set up a theoretical basis.
The author argues that Hermeneutics can still be useful for translation if it is employed within certain limits, above all the social acceptability of the interpretation provided by the translator.
Furthermore, the article highlights the problem of misunderstanding and not understanding as treated by Schleiermacher and also useful for the present as well (concept of instability). The author also underlines the importance of sociable conversation (geselliger Dialog), to be considered a hermeneutic dialogue, important in mapping the “right” interpretation
Traduzione e modalità di trasmissione della conoscenza.
Hermeneutics (and particulary Stellenhermeneutik) has improved the consciousness of the complexity of the translation process that begins already with the selection of a text to be translated from the entire production of an author. Furthermore, translating texts can promote the development of a discipline in a target culture, in which it is relatively unfamiliar, as translations of the works of Sigmund Freud, particularly by Edoardo Weiss, demonstrate. In this context comprehension by the translator is a central element because he decides how terms are to be translated, whether the text must be clarified with integrations etc., which is extremely important for reception in the target culture. Various examples of text passages from "Vorlesungen zur Einführung in die Psychonalyse" by Freud and their translation into Italian by different translators are given. Concepts relevant for the configuration of translation both as a process and as a product, such as frame, pragmatic template and script are given
Karl May als imaginärer Reisender
This essay deals with Karl May (1842-1912), one of the classical authors of travel and adventure young adult literature, a writer who played an important role within the context of the educational process of a large part of the German-speaking population at the end of the 19th century. Travelling is a central topic in May’s works, as the author leaves for fictive worlds in order to write, while his narrators are constantly travelling. Along his weariness of Europe and the vague pedagogic intention to instruct his own nation as well as to help the visited populations in some way, another implicit motif is that of travelling as a mission to bring to his readers the concrete example of the love among men
Hemodynamics and wall shear metrics in a pulmonary autograft : comparing a fluid-structure interaction and computational fluid dynamics approach
Objective: In young patients, aortic valve disease is often treated by placement of a pulmonary autograft (PA) which adapts to its new environment through growth and remodeling. To better understand the hemodynamic forces acting on the highly distensible PA in the acute phase after surgery, we developed a fluid-structure interaction (FSI) framework and comprehensively compared hemodynamics and wall shear-stress (WSS) metrics with a computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation. Methods: The FSI framework couples a prestressed non-linear hyperelastic arterial tissue model with a fluid model using the in-house coupling code CoCoNuT. Geometry, material parameters and boundary conditions are based on in-vivo measurements. Hemodynamics, time-averaged WSS (TAWSS), oscillatory shear index (OSI) and topological shear variation index (TSVI) are evaluated qualitatively and quantitatively for 3 different sheeps. Results: Despite systolic-to-diastolic volumetric changes of the PA in the order of 20 %, the point-by-point correlation of TAWSS and OSI obtained through CFD and FSI remains high (r > 0.9, p 0.8, p < 0.01) for OSI). Instantaneous WSS divergence patterns qualitatively preserve similarities, but large deformations of the PA leads to a decrease of the correlation between FSI and CFD resolved TSVI (r < 0.7, p < 0.01). Moderate co-localization between FSI and CFD is observed for low thresholds of TAWSS and high thresholds of OSI and TSVI. Conclusion: FSI might be warranted if we were to use the TSVI as a mechano-biological driver for growth and remodeling of PA due to varying intra-vascular flow structures and near wall hemodynamics because of the large expansion of the PA
The Belgian experience with concomitant surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation: a multi-centre prospective registry
Background: The Belgian ‘National Institute for Health and Disability Insurance (RIZIV-INAMI)’ requested prospective collection of data on all ablations in Belgium to determine the outcomes of surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation (AF) during concomitant cardiac surgery. Methods: 890 patients undergoing concomitant ablation for AF between 2011 and 2016 were prospectively followed. Freedom from AF with and without anti-arrhythmic drugs was calculated for 817 patients with follow-up beyond the 3-month blanking period and for 574 patients with sufficient rhythm-related follow-up consisting of at least one Holter registration or a skipped Holter due to AF being evident on ECG. Besides preoperative AF type, concomitant procedure and ablation, potential covariates were entered into uni- and multivariable regression models to determine predictors of outcome. Results: The overall freedom from AF beyond 3 months was 69.9% (571/817) and without anti-arrhythmic drugs at last follow-up 51.0% (417/817), respectively, 61.3% (352/574) and 44.4% (255/574) for patients with sufficient rhythm-related follow-up. Using a Kaplan–Meier estimate, freedom from AF was 89.3%, 74.9% and 59%, without antiarrhythmic drugs 74.4%, 47.8% and 32.3% at 6, 12 and 24 months, respectively. In-hospital mortality was 1.7% (15/890) and the overall survival was 95.0% at 1 year and 92.3% at 2 years. Preoperative left atrial diameter and AF type were significant predictive factors of freedom from AF in a multivariable analysis. Conclusion: Analysis of the Belgian national registry shows that concomitant surgical ablation of atrial fibrillation is safe, achieves favourable freedom from AF and, therefore, deserves to be performed in accordance to the guidelines.</p

Culture-Bound Words and the Didactics of Translation
The translation of texts characterized by a large number of culture-bound words is, on the one hand, a good approach to explain to translation students, particularly in the first year of their studies, that translating is a difficult compromise to reformulate a text from the source language/culture into the target language/culture in the best possible way. On the other, students tend to focus too much attention on the difficulty of translating culture-bound words. This paper aims to circumscribe the phrase “culture-bound word” (Realia) highlightening that it serves not only to denominate products created by humans, but everything particular to a region, for example, various aspects of the natural landscape and stresses that sometimes the difficulty to understand culture-bound words is not so much a question of different languages as one of different regional cultures within the same State. The question of the border between “term” as such and “culture-bound word” is treated and the author finds a criterion for the distinction in the theory of the dogmatics of fundamental rights, as applied by Jagodzinsky (1997) in a sociological study on moral values with reference to a clear kernel (Begriffskern) and a less distinct contour (Begriffshof). Furthermore, the paper discusses the classification of the various ways to translate culture bound words in different communicative situations, but, at the same time, on the basis of concrete examples, promote student awareness that “no matter how elegant the different strategies proposed to “solve” the problem of realia, the problem remains without any definitive solution in the end” (Florin 1993)

investigative experience of the author, in relation to school coexistence, constitutes
a challenge to be faced by Cuban society and education. Its objective is to propose
a system of activities for school coexistence among students of the eighth one of
the Secondary School "Eduardo Anoceto Rega" of the municipality of Santa Clara.
Based on the use of theoretical, empirical and mathematical methods, there were
insufficiencies in the school environment in the eighth grade students. The need for
the design of a system of activities for a studied group was confirmed, consisting of
two subsystems, one directed to self-knowledge and personal life and the other to
coexistence and well-being, using film debate, reflection group, participatory
techniques, relaxation and motivation. Evaluated by specialists as novel and
relevant. It is recognized that its application will achieve positive results in
interpersonal relationships among students.non-publishe
