Agrometeorology for Rural Development Policies, Agrometeorologia per le Politiche di Sviluppo Rurale. Atti del XXI Convegno Nazionale di Agrometeorologia
Lo studio delle interazioni dei fattori meteorologici ed idrologici con l’ecosistema agrario - forestale e con l’agricoltura, intesa nel suo senso più ampio, è oggetto di una particolare disciplina, l’agrometeorologia, che negli ultimi anni ha assunto un ruolo sempre più rilevante nella pianificazione agricola, a causa della maggiore variabilità meteorologica e in particolare della crescente diffusione e intensificazione dei fenomeni estremi.
Questo ruolo è stato pienamente riconosciuto nelle recenti normative europee sull’agricoltura, in particolare con le direttive della nuova Politica Agricola Comunitaria (PAC2014-2020) sulla produzione integrata e sull’agricoltura biologica, sistemi agricoli a basso impatto ambientale che prevedono l’uso coordinato e razionale di tutti i fattori della produzione, per ridurre al minimo il ricorso a mezzi tecnici che hanno un impatto sull’ambiente o sulla salute dei consumatori. L’attuazione di tali tecniche agricole si avvale di informazioni che derivano principalmente dalla modellistica agronomica, che utilizza il dato agrometeorologico nelle procedure di elaborazione. La conferma dell’importanza attribuita all’agrometeorologia è data dalla Direttiva europea 2009/128/CE del 21 ottobre 2009 che istituisce un quadro comunitario per l’uso sostenibile dei prodotti fitosanitari, applicata a livello italiano attraverso l’approvazione del Piano d’Azione Nazionale sull’uso dei prodotti fitosanitari (PAN, approvato con DM22/01/2014).
La Rete Rurale Nazionale, programma con cui l’Italia partecipa al più ampio progetto europeo (Rete Rurale Europea - RRE) che accompagna e integra tutte le attività legate allo sviluppo delle aree rurali per il periodo 2014-2020, mira a supportare le politiche di sviluppo delle aree agricole, con il fine ultimo di favorire scambi di esperienze e conoscenze tra gli operatori del settore e le istituzioni e tutti i soggetti che operano e vivono nelle aree rurali.
Nello specifico ambito, si pone l’obiettivo di supportare Regioni e Province Autonome (di seguito denominate Autorità di Gestione – AdG) nell’adempimento degli obblighi di legge, per una migliore diffusione delle tecniche agrometeorologiche sul territorio nazionale, con particolare riferimento all’applicazione di modelli di stima, simulazione e previsione, per la difesa da avversità biotiche e abiotiche, per la razionalizzazione dell’uso dell’acqua e delle risorse energetiche (fertilizzanti, diserbanti, fitofarmaci, ecc.).
In questo contesto il Centro di ricerca Politiche e Bioeconomia e il Centro di ricerca Agricoltura e Ambiente, del Consiglio per la ricerca in agricoltura e l’analisi dell’economia agraria (CREA) con l’Associazione Italiana di Agrometeorologia (AIAM) promuovono insieme il 21° Convegno Nazionale, al fine di fornire nuove ricerche e servizi per affrontare le nuove sfide agro-climatico-ambientali nel contesto delle politiche di sviluppo Rurale
ALADIN PROJECT: SYSTEMS INTEGRATION FOR VARIABLE RATE IRRIGATION
ALADIN (Agroalimentare Idrointelligente) is a two-year project dedicated to precision irrigation. It integrates different systems for collecting information (monitoring of crop conditions), processing of responses (irrigation prescription maps) and implementation in the field (variable rate irrigating machine). The experimental protocol is tested in four different farms in the Emilia Romagna region on two important crops, maize and tomato. The NDVI index, positively correlated to the crop vigor condition, is used as an indicator of the plants water status. The IRRIFRAME irrigation service, based on integration of NDVI information, produces a prescription map to be supplied to the variable rate irrigating device
ORCHARDS LAI ESTIMATION THROUGH THE RADIATION EXTINCTION COEFFICIENT
Light interception is an indicator of crop vigor and phenological phase. Although algorithms found in literature are useful for calibration of direct measurement tools, they are difficult to replicate since optical corrections are needed to account for different canopy shapes. During 2016-17 growing seasons non destructive, cheap and easy to use methods to assess plant-
light interaction characteristics were developed and tested in six orchards in Emilia-Romagna (Italy). The Photosynthetically Active Radiation (PAR) was detected below and above crown by an AccuPAR LP80 ceptometer, Canopy Cover (CC) was derived through hemispherical photos from a smartphone equipped with a fisheye lens, leaves for direct LAI were collected from sample plants, and measured in laboratory. The below PAR was adjusted according two geometrical corrections. The ratio above-to-below PAR was inverted to obtain the fraction of absorbed PAR (FAPAR), and to estimate the indirect LAI. Correlations between direct and indirect LAI according to plant geometry, and regardless the species, is presented. Trend lines equations were used to calculate the extinction coefficient (K), allowing LAI estimation in other orchards with similar geometrical characteristics. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
