Emerging technologies in solid drug delivery: An interview with Nadia Passerini
Nadia Passerini is interviewed by Hannah Makin, Commission Editor. Nadia Passerini is Associate Professor of Pharmaceutical Technology at the University of Bologna (Bologna, Italy). She obtained the degree in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and Technology at the University of Bologna in 1992 and the PhD in Pharmaceutical Science in 1997. Her research focuses on the study of drug delivery systems, developing new technologies and new apparatus for the production of solid dosage forms (microparticles, granules and tablets), which can optimize the bioavailability of drugs according to the specific needs of the therapy. Furthermore, she is interested in the solid-state characterization of the produced delivery systems in order to correlate their physicochemical properties to the in vitro release of the drugs. Currently, her research focuses in particular on the production and characterization of microparticles produced by the spray congealing technology. She is author of over 50 international peer-reviewed publications and over 50 contributions (poster and oral presentations) to national and international conferences
Selected Songs of Nadia Boulanger: Formal Analysis and Adaptation for Brass Chamber Music
Worth can be a difficult thing to understand and define, even under the best of circumstances. Nadia Boulanger is known to have told her teacher, Gabriel Fauré, that “if there is one thing of which I am certain, it is that my music is worthless.” As a teacher, Boulanger empowered her students to listen for the internal logic present in the pieces of art that she considered valuable. This document will apply Nadia Boulanger’s teachings to her compositions to demonstrate that her music does have worth. To that end, these analyses will compile data to discern the internal logic in her pieces.
As a performer, Nadia Boulanger coupled her analytical beliefs to her performance practice; her concerts were shaped by and carefully crafted to present her analyses. Her formal classes included an informal ticket to hear her commentaries in action. Therefore, in addition to analytical validation, the author intends to demonstrate the value of Nadia Boulanger’s music through the arrangement and performance of her compositions as brass chamber music. as brass chamber music
Falklands War: Collective Memory and Social Representations in General and Military Population
Fil: Sosa, Fernanda Mariel. State-of-the-art topic working with ICT
The research work “State-of-the-art Topic Working with ICT” deals with the use of technology in two secondary schools in Leones, Córdoba, Argentina, where teachers utilize ICT to teach English as a foreign language. The study aims to know how ICT can benefit students as well as the disadvantages to learn English by means of the strategies and activities applied. The results of this research show that the use of ICT in the English classes in these two schools is not considered as a very important tool for the teaching-learning process because only one of the interviewed teachers shows he uses technology in most of his classes.Fil: Rodríguez, María Fernanda. The Return of Argentina's Democracy and Malvinas War: Commemoration and its Role in Military Training
Collective, social and cultural memory are representations or expressions of a past that are commonly shared by a group of people. They are collective commemorations or culturally embodied that corroborate the past, present and future group identity of that group. The objective of this work is to investigate the collective memory of the Malvinas War linked to the commemoration and exhibition as forms of subjective transmission and incorporation into military training in military students. A descriptive and comparative study of non-experimental cross-sectional design was carried out with an intentional sample made up of 252 students from the National Military College (73.8% men; 26.2% women; mean age=23.34, SD=2, 55, Min:19–Max:35) and 259 participants from the civilian population (males 46.3%; females 53.7%, mean age=42.18, SD=14.03, Min:18–Max:88). There is evidence of greater participation in commemorative acts in military students as well as a strong contribution in academic training in the framework of the commemoration of the 40th anniversary of the war.Fil: Kreizer, Nadia Karina. A Multidisciplinary Tool for the Development of a Regional-scale Geotechnical Model: A Case Study in the North-Western Adriatic Coastal Area
AbstractThe paper describes the geotechnical model of a coastal flat area facing the Adriatic Sea, between the municipalities of Cesenatico and Bellaria-Igea Marina (Emilia-Romagna region, Italy). On the basis of a large experimental database provided by the Geological, Seismic and Soil Survey of the Emilia-Romagna Authority, a stratigraphic scheme of the upper 40 m of this coastal plain subsoil has been defined and reliable estimates of parameters for the different soil units have been derived. The accurate mechanical characterization of soils, also reflecting their sedimentological framework, allows the development of a regional-scale geotechnical model providing a reliable and useful support to geotechnical engineers working in this area or similar geological environments
