    Environmental themes in Chinese dance theater: experience and perspectives

    This article highlights the involvement of Chinese dance theater in environmental protection. The author analyzes the ecological concepts of the work of three outstanding Chinese choreographers Yang Liping, Wang Yuanyuan, Tong Ruirui, whose works consistently embody the idea of the development of beautiful China, the ecological balance between human and nature, and the humankind’s adaptation to the new conditions of urban digital civilization. The purpose of the study is to investigate the existing experience of implementing Environmental themes in Chinese dance theater, as well as to outline the role of the Chinese ballet theater in the development of environmental consciousness. The research materials were the following stage works: “Pilgrimage to Lhasa”, “Two trees”, “Fire”, “Daughter of the country”, “Spirit of the Peacock”, “Romantic peacock”, “Echoes of Shangrila”, “Dynamic Yunnan”, “The Spirit of the Birds” (director and choreographer Yang Liping); “Haze” (director and choreographer Wang Yuanyuan); “Deep Memory”, “The World of Flowers”, “Then”, “The Earth”, “Goddess of Luo River”; ecological trilogy “Soaring Wings: Journey of the Crested Ibis”, “The Origin of the Big River”, “Deep AI You” (director and choreographer Tong Ruirui). The conclusions summarize the main characteristics of studied artists’ performances on environmental themes, as well as outline the prospects for further promotion of environmental awareness by means of dance theater. According to the author, the dance theater of China can continue to participate in environmental protection actively. The following forms of work turned out to be the most promising: further staging of choreographic performances on ecological topics, ecological production of the plays, open-air performances in natural areas and parks, original dance events in rural areas, choreographic open-air master classes, access to eco-responsible dance productions in online format, participation of ballet dancers in complex activities (ecological festivals, environmental photo sessions, media-programs or performances etc.)

    Photothermally-Induced Molecular Self-Assembly of Macroscopic Peptide-Inorganic Hybrid Films

    We present a new strategy for a one-step preparation of macroscopic peptide-inorganic hybrid supramolecular films with functionality. It has been found that photothermal induction is of key importance to mediate the disassembly of supramolecular structures in solution phase, enrichment and reorganization at the interfaces associated with water evaporation. Incorporation of functional nanoscale objects into the film is achieved, providing the potential of integration of multiple functions. Texture and thickness of the hybrid film assembled at interfaces can be tuned and controlled by alteration of experimental parameters such as concentration and irradiation time. The photothermal treatment approach developed in this work is simple, flexible and controllable for design of macroscale functional supramolecular films, directly interfacing with biological systems. The photothermally-induced transformation of supramolecular structures is attractive for preparation of macroscale materials or devices towards a broad range of applications in biology and in nanotechnology.</p

    Impact of socioeconomic factors on soil-borne animal pathogenic fungi in urban greenspaces

    33 referenciasAnimal pathogenic fungi, including human pathogenic fungi, cause millions of deaths annually. We know that these organisms can be found in our urban greenspaces where we enter in contact with them, yet the contribution of socioeconomic development in shaping the distribution of soil-borne animal pathogens from local to global scales remains virtually unknown. Here we used information from a global survey including 56 cities and a high-resolution local survey within Shanghai and found that socioeconomic factors were crucial in predicting the community composition and diversity of soil-borne pathogens. Our results were consistent after accounting for the effects of climate and soil properties. Trichosporon was identified as a universal indicator species for population density at both the global and local scales. Gross domestic product per capita and number of hospital beds were also critical predictors of a limited proportion of Trichosporon in Shanghai. Our study highlights the influence of human activities in shaping the pathogenic microbiome of cities with potential implications for human health, suggesting that poorer and more populated cities are expected to harbor larger proportions of soil-borne animal and human pathogens.Y.F. acknowledges the financial support from National Natural Science Foundation of China (grant no. 42177297).     Gemmatirosa adaptations to arid and low soil organic carbon conditions worldwide

    12 páginas.- 5 figuras.- referencias.-Aridity and warming accelerate soil organic carbon (SOC) loss, thereby compromising essential functions of soil health, such as nutrient retention and microbial diversity. However, the mechanisms by which microbes adapt to arid and low SOC conditions remain poorly understood. Here, using data from an 8-y field-scale manipulation experiment, we found that the largely undescribed Gemmatimonadetes could be among the well-adapted bacterial taxa for thriving under low SOC content and arid ecosystems. Their enhanced ability to tolerate drought stress—mediated by metabolic pathways for the synthesis of osmolytes (e.g., glycine, betaine, choline, ectoine, and histidine)—and their capacity to acquire carbon resource through glycoside hydrolase genes involved in organic matter decomposition (41.6 % and 11.8 % higher than those in the total bacterial community, respectively), could explain this pattern. Further analyses based on a global-scale standardized field survey covering all continents and major ecosystem types further confirmed that Gemmatimonadetes—and, at a finer resolution, Gemmatirosa—predominated in arid (with a peak relative abundance of Gemmatimonadetes reaching 3.8 % in dry grasslands) and warm regions (peaking at 4.5 % in Africa) of the planet, where the SOC content is low.     Stability, acidity and interaction properties of [Bmim][SbF6] coupled with concentrated sulfuric acid

    Ionic liquid coupled with strong acid systems presents considerable promise in some catalytic fields. In the present work, the multiple complex systems composed by 98 wt% concentrated sulfuric acid and [Bmim][SbF6] were investigated in the terms of stability, acidity and interaction properties. It was found that acidolysis of [Bmim][SbF6] occurred in the 98 wt% concentrated sulfuric acid accompanied by HF releasing and SbF (6) (-) degrading to [SbF6-y (HSO4) (y) ](-). The species after acidolysis in the multiple complex systems were checked and confirmed by electrospray ionization mass spectrometry (ESI-MS), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), H-1 NMR and F-19 NMR. Acidity increased slightly with less than 1 wt% [Bmim][SbF6] addition, while decreased with more proportion, which was determined based on the Hammett acidity functions H-0, using C-13 NMR. The strong hydrogen bond S-O-H center dot center dot center dot F of interaction among the multiple complex systems was confirmed by molecular dynamic simulation.</p

    Multikingdom interactions govern the microbiome in subterranean cultural heritage sites

However, the ecology involving the origin, composition, and establishment of microbiomes on relics, once exposed to external environments, is largely unknown. Here, we combined field surveys with physiological assays and biological interaction experiments to investigate the microbiome in the Dahuting Han Dynasty Tomb, a Chinese tomb with more than 1,800 y of history, and its surrounding environments. Our investigation finds that multikingdom interactions, from mutualism to competition, drive the microbiome in this subterranean tomb. We reveal that Actinobacteria, Pseudonocardiaceae are the dominant organisms on walls in this tomb. These bacteria produce volatile geosmin that attracts springtails (Collembola), forming an interkingdom mutualism, which contributes to their dispersal, as one of the possible sources into the tomb from surrounding environments. Then, intrakingdom competition helps explain why Pseudonocardiaceae thrive in this tomb via the production of a mixture of cellulases, in combination with potential antimicrobial substances. Together, our findings show that multikingdom interactions play an important role in governing the microbiomes that colonize cultural relics.
