Harry Feinberg Oral History Interview
No full textHarry Feinberg was a gunner and tank commander in the 4th Armored Division, which liberated Ohrdruf, a sub-camp of Buchenwald, on April 4, 1945. Before being drafted in 1942, he was a professional musician, a member of Borrah Minevitch\u27s Harmonica Rascals. In this interview, Feinberg provides a detailed description of his experiences in training and en route to Europe. The division trained in England for several months before arriving in France in July 1944. From there, they proceeded on the Rhineland and Central Europe Campaigns. In Gotha, Feinberg had an encounter with a German woman who had a lampshade made of human skin in her house. A few days later, they reached Ohrdruf, which was the first concentration camp liberated by the Americans. Feinberg was present when Eisenhower and Patton toured the camp, and was also there when the townspeople were brought to see it. Feinberg also describes his activities after the war, including his involvement with the 4th Armored Division Association

No full textA partir de la doctrina de Joel Feinberg, el presente artículo reflexiona sobre el harm principle, principio de la filosofía ética propio de los países de Common Law. La base del estudio es la obra The Moral Limits of Criminal Law, compuesta por cuatro volúmenes, en la que Feinberg aborda posibles comportamientos indeseados por la sociedad y la legitimidad del Estado para prohibirlos y castigarlos por medio del derecho penal. Se señalan críticas relevantes a las ideas de Feinberg y, en la parte final, se pone en relación la teoría del bien jurídico, típica del sistema romano-germánico, con el concepto del harm principle, con el fin de analizar cómo un sistema puede complementar al otro.This article discusses the harm principle, the principle of ethical philosophy, typical of Common Law countries, with emphasis on the doctrine of Joel Feinberg, whose work devoted to its application in criminal law. The basis of the study is the work “The Moral Limits of Criminal Law”, consisting of four volumes, in which Feinberg addresses potential undesirable behaviors by society and the legitimacy of the state to prohibit them and punish them by criminal law. Also important critiques are pointed to Feinberg’s doctrine ideas and suggestions to remove the harm concept of mere welfare of the individual. At the end, the study approaches the theory of the legal interest, typical at Roman-Germanic system, to the concept of harm principle in order to demonstrate how a system can complement each other

No full textEste trabajo contiene un análisis del Instituto de la Mujer (IM), el principal organismo público de igualdad de la Administración central en España. Al igual que las instituciones feministas de otros países, el IM fue establecido con el propósito de impulsar el establecimiento de políticas que contribuyeran a mejorar la posición de las mujeres en la sociedad. La primera parte del artículo examina el proceso de creación del IM, prestando especial atención al papel desempeñado por el movimiento asociativo de mujeres, así como a la importancia de las influencias internacionales. Se estudian además las principales características formales de la institución. La segunda parte contiene una evaluación (provisional) del impacto del IM en la formulación y puesta en práctica de las políticas de igualdad.
