Fay Cheater
In 1951 Fay and her husband Keith Cheater came to the Northern Territory. He was the first white Australian builder appointed by the Methodist Overseas Missions to work at Milingimbi and worked there for two years. They had four children, three sons and a daughter. The family then moved to Yirrkala, where Fay taught cooking, sewing and craft work. In 1956 they returned to Darwin, Fay played the organ at various church services around Darwin including Bagot Reserve and the Leprosarium. Between 1970 to1974 she took a position as a teacher's aide at Darwin Special School. In 1973 Fay and three teachers took twenty students on an excursion to Adelaide, which was considered very innovative at the time. From 1975 to 1979 she worked at the Wagaman pre-school. She also worked for the North Australian Show Society since its inception in 1951 and over the years has made hundreds of posies for public speakers and sick people. Fay has sponsored 1st prize at the Royal Darwin Show in the cake decoration classes and was a keen photographer. The Jones family was unable to attend the much-anticipated annual Taliesin West Easter due to Cami Jones's case of the mumps. Cami is the younger of the two Jones daughters. The Joe Price referred to was the son of a Frank Lloyd Wright client, Harold C. Price. Price commissioned the Price Tower in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Wright's only built skyscraper.
