    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     Variations on the Author

    “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     HOSPITAL BUILDING SAFETY: A SYSTEMATIC REVIEW

    Safety is the most important aspect that needs to be considered in a hospital. There are several types of safety: patient safety, health personnel safety, building safety, equipment safety, green productivity, and hospital business safety. Building safety is determined to be the third common adverse event that occurred in hospital and affects directly to the safety of patients and health workers. Building safety in hospitals consists of electrical installations, fire and lightning protection, wastewater treatment plants, medical gas systems and medical vacuum, and elevator installation. A systematic review of problems and solutions to improve hospital building safety is expected to become a useful information for any health profession, engineers, and researchers. The purpose of this study is to identify the result of research on the implementation of building safety in the hospital. Some literature on adverse events and solutions from 2000-2019 was reviewed. The result shows various adverse events such as fall of the elevator, fire, damage electrical current which resulted in many victims. The result of this literature review can be a reference for hospitals to conduct evaluation and innovation in the implementation of building safety in hospitals

    Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods

    Perancangan Sensor Kekeruhan Air Menggunakan Led dan Photodiode Sebagai Pemancar dan Penerima Gelombang Cahaya

    Air merupakan salah satu kebutuhan dasar bagi manusia yang kualitasnya perlu dijaga agar sesuai dengan standar kesehatan yang berlaku. Untuk memenuhi kebutuhan air bersih masyarakat, setiap daerah memiliki badan usaha masing-masing yang biasa disebut dengan PDAM. Agar air yang diproduksi oleh PDAM dapat terjaga kualitasnya, maka perlu dilakukan pemantauan parameter kualitas air. Salah satu parameter yang sangat menentukan kualitas air adalah tingkat kekeruhan. Untuk memantau tingkat kekeruhan air, PDAM melakukan uji lab dengan peralatan yang cukup mahal. Selain itu, hasil uji lab tidak bisa langsung diketahui secara real-time. Oleh karena itu, perlu dikembangkan sensor kekeruhan air yang lebih murah, dan mampu menampilkan hasil pengukuran secara real-time. Sensor yang dibuat menggunakan LED sebagai pemancar gelombang cahaya dan fotodioda sebagai penerima gelombang cahaya dengan konfigurasi membentuk sudut 900 antara keduanya. Hasil pengukuran sensor yang dibuat kemudian dibandingkan dengan sensor kekeruhan yang dipakai dalam uji laboratorium. Berdasarkan pengukuran yang telah dilakukan, sensor kekeruhan yang dibuat memiliki selisih kurang dari 10% dengan sensor uji lab. Sensor yang dibuat juga efektif ketika digunakan untuk mengukur tingkat kekeruhan antara 50-1100 NTU. Jika lebih dari rentang tersebut, maka penyimpangan pengukuran akan semakin besa

    The problem that is faced by students is the difficulty of students to understand in learning mathematics. It affected the interest of students in learning mathematics. One of the factors is the one-way method in teaching. The direction of information is from the teacher to the students that makes students passive in class. Most students have a low imagination to understand abstract and invisible mathematical concepts. The use of concrete objects as intermediaries in the learning process is an alternative to delivering interesting and interactive learning in the classroom. One of them is by using a display tool. The aim of this activity is to provide learning alternatives that make it easier for students to understand the Trigonometry Special Angles and to develop critical thinking of students during the learning process. The implementation of this activity is to apply a display tool as a Learning Tool In Trigonometry Special Angles. This activity was carried out on class XI students of SMK Yabri Terpadu Pekanbaru. This activity is carried out in three stages that are preparation, implementation, and evaluation. From the results of this activity, an evaluation shown that the use of Trigonometry Special Angles Display Tool in the learning process, make students easier to understand the learning trigonometry special angle and make the learning process more interesting and interactive.Permasalahan yang sering dihadapi oleh siswa adalah sulitnya siswa memahami matematika yang mengakibatkan rendahnya minat siswa dalam belajar matematika. salah satu faktor penyebab yaitu penyampaian materi yang satu arah membuat siswa pasif dalam menerima pembelajaran serta rendahnya imajinasi siswa dalam memahami konsep matematika yang abstrak dan tidak terlihat. penggunaan benda-benda konkrit sebagai perantara dalam proses pembelajaran merupakan salah satu alternatif penyampaian materi yang menarik dan interaktif untuk membangkitkan keaktifan siswa di kelas. Salah satunya adalah dengan menggunakan alat peraga. Kegiatan pengabdian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan alternatif pembelajaran yang memudahkan siswa dalam memahami materi pada trigonometri sudut istimewa serta menumbuhkan keaktifan siswa selama proses pembelajaran. Pelaksanaan pengabdian ini yaitu menerapkan alat peraga sebagai alat pembelajaran dalam materi trigonometri sudut istimewa. Kegiatan ini dilakukan pada siswa kelas XI SMK Yabri Terpadu Pekanbaru. Kegiatan pengabdian ini dilakukan dengan tiga tahapan yaitu persiapan, pelaksanaan, dan evaluasi. Dari hasil kegiatan ini dilakukan evaluasi yang menunjukkan penggunaan alat peraga trigonometri sudut istimewa pada proses pembelajaran memudahkan siswa memahami materi pembelajaran serta membuat pembelajaran jadi lebih menarik dan interakti

    Indramayu Regency is one of the national rice producers. In increasing the productivity of rice plants, there are many obstacles faced. One of the causes of decreased rice productivity is bird rice pests. Based on the results of the service team\u27s interviews with Jambe Village residents, they experienced crop failure due to bird pests. The aim of this community service is to make a bird repellent device in rice fields based on solar panels. It is hoped that this can overcome the problems in Jambe Village. This activity will start from April to August 2023. The method used is by utilizing sunlight to turn on the equipment. The bird repellent device uses an ultrasonic sensor with a frequency between 25-100 Hz. The ultrasonic sensor will later be turned on using a solar panel which receives power from the sun and then stored in a battery as power storage. From the results of the service, the tool managed to work well and was able to repel rice birds
