No full textA più di cinquant'anni dalla pubblicazione del celebre studio di Garret Hardin, La tragedia dei beni comuni, considerato il punto di partenza del dibattito contemporaneo sui beni comuni, l'adozione della Convenzione di Faro dà nuovo impulso alla questione promuovendo una prospettiva che riconosce un ruolo prioritario alla collettività nel processo di identificazione, conservazione e valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale. Al di là dei problemi di definizione e delle incertezze applicative che l'emanazione della legge nazionale di ratifica ha generato, la relazione si propone di verificare se la Convenzione delinea le condizioni giuridiche (principi, criteri e strumenti) per la valorizzazione del patrimonio culturale come bene comune

New life for disused religious heritage: A sustainable approach
No full textThe sustainable reuse of the built heritage is one of the main challenges of our time. Religious heritage, in particular, requires strong survey strategies and analyses in order to achieve consistent approaches for the conservation and transmission of its value, both material and immaterial. The exploitation of the latter is underpinned by knowledge analyses, prior to the conservation actions, with a focus not only on the techniques of material restoration but also on the values that it represents for the territory and local communities. With this aim, three case studies in Southern Italy are here presented, that offer a good example of how ecclesiastical heritage, although vast and diffuse, is still an undervalued asset. By combining accurate knowledge and historical research in comparison with the residual performance of the buildings, the results aim to demonstrate how integrated knowledge strategies can pursue more conscious choices of new possible uses for abandoned religious heritage, resulting in preserve their memory and add value in terms of social sustainability

No full textComo em qualquer grande cidade, a história de Faro é indissociável das atividades económicas que, ao longo dos séculos, fizeram a sua riqueza e garantiram, não apenas a sobrevivência, mas, também, a prosperidade dos seus habitantes. Contudo, a dinâmica económica e social de um país e das suas cidades está diretamente relacionada com os regimes políticos e as lideranças que marcam determinados períodos e, também, com catástrofes naturais, guerras e epidemias.
De tudo isto trata esta Breve História Socioeconómica de Faro, uma obra que revisita os grandes acontecimentos da história farense, mas também alguns episódios que, embora pouco conhecidos, não deixam de ser fascinantes.
