genetic variation
Pooled data on genetic variation. Each row represents an individual Mycobacterium tuberculosis patient isolate. ID's starting with w are isolates that were whole genome sequenced. ID's not starting with 'w' belong to isolates that underwent targeted sequencing focusing on 27 loci putatively associated with drug resistance. In the targeted sequencing case the entire open reading frame and flanking 100bp (as annotated in the MTB H37Rv genome) were sequenced. The images are a digital reproduction of a handwritten letter and accompanying translation donated by Kathy Sa'ade Kenny. In this letter Jiryes Farhat writes to his son Suleiman Farhat who was living in California managing his and Katrina's shop. At this stage Katrina Sa'ade had recently moved to Ramallah with three of their children to live with Jiryes and his wife Miriam. Jiryes notes that he and the family are looking after Katrina and the children, and references their Arabic tutoring. Issa Farhat scribes. In this letter Jiryes Farhat informs his son Suleiman Farhat, who is living in California, of the dramatic turn of events in which Katrina Sa'ade left Palestine taking her son Fred Farhat with her. This was against the wishes of her father-in-law Jiryes and resulted in a violent encounter between him and her relatives who assisted her with her flight. Issa Farhat scribes. In this letter Jiryes Farhat writes this letter to his son Suleiman Farhat in California. Jiryes ask Suleiman to 'use his head' and move back to Ramallah soon. He warns that his health is deteriorating and asks Suleiman to send money for George's school fees.
