Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more

TIOBA/EIBI- foreldres opplevelse av stress og mestring : en kvalitativ studie av hvordan TIOBA/EIBI påvirker foreldre til barn med autismespekterforstyrrelse sin opplevelse av stress og mestring
Å få et barn med autismespekterforstyrrelse (ASD) kan medføre en rekke vansker for foreldre og familien rundt, uavhengig av alvorlighetsgraden av autisme (Pottie og Ingram, 2008, s. 855). Forskning indikerer at denne foreldregruppen har økt forekomst av fysiske og psykiske helseplager. De opplever svakere mestring av foreldrerollen og rapporterer om høyere stressnivå og lavere livskvalitet enn foreldre til barn med andre funksjonshemninger (Karst og Van Hecke, 2012, s. 247).
De faglige tilnærmingene til autismespekterforstyrrelse kan variere i omfang og intensitet. Både eklektiske og mer intensive tilnærminger kan være aktuell med hensyn til behandling og opplæring. Dette kan være intervensjoner/opplæringsprogrammer som tar sikte på direkte arbeid mot barnet og dets symptomer. Det er lite fokus på de pårørende. I dette forskningsprosjektet rettes søkelyset mot barnets foreldre og det undersøkes hvordan opplærings-/intervensjonsprogrammet TIOBA/EIBI påvirker foreldre sin opplevelse av stress og mestring.
Karst og Van Hecke (2012) hevder at det finnes lite internasjonal forskning på hvordan ulike program designet for barn med autisme påvirker foreldrene og familien som enhet. De påpeker at de ulike programmene bare er opptatt av barnets fremgang. De evaluerer ikke foreldre og familiefaktorer som sannsynligvis kan påvirke både den umiddelbare effekten av et slikt program, men også den langsiktige effekten, på tross av at foreldrene ofte spiller en vesentlig rolle i prosessen (s.247). Med dette som utgangspunkt har jeg gjennomført kvalitative intervjuer av fire foreldre. En far og tre mødre, som alle har barn med autismespekterforstyrrelse og som tidligere har mottatt TIOBA/EIBI som tiltak i barnehagen.
Forskjellen mellom teori og praksis i studien har vært overraskende. Mine funn indikerer at informantene ikke har gjennomført TIOBA/EIBI med henhold til aktiv foreldre-involvering. Aktiv foreldre-involvering beskrives som en forutsetning for et fullverdig TIOBA/EIBI opplegg (Green, Brennan og Fein, 2002 sitert i Eikeseth og Olaff, 2015 s. 40). Prosjektets problemstilling lyder «Hvordan påvirker TIOBA/EIBI foreldre til barn med autismespekterforstyrrelse sin opplevelse av stress og mestring». Foreldrenes lave grad av involvering i opplæringen gjør at det er vanskelig å si noe generelt om TIOBA/EIBIS effekt på deres stress og mestring. Den lave involveringen kan på den ene siden ha ført til mindre negativt stress for foreldrene ettersom de slapp belastningen det er å ta en større del i opplæringen. På den andre siden kan den lave graden av involvering ha påvirket behandlingseffekt og dermed også foreldrestresset i det lange løpet.
Mine funn indikerer også at alle informantene har opplevd stressreduksjon i forbindelse med TIOBA/EIBI. Det er dog usikkerhet om det er en direkte årsakssammenheng med metoden TIOBA/EIBI eller om stressreduksjonen heller kan tilskrives at familien mottok en hvilken som helst form for hjelpetiltak. Dette kan underbygges med funnene som viser at metoden ikke er utført slik det er beskrevet i flerregional fagprosedyre for EIBI (2014) og faglitteratur. Informantene opplyser om at de ved hjelp av TIOBA/EIBI fikk en dypere forståelse for barnets autismespesifikke atferd og verktøy til å håndtere flere av de utfordringene familien sto overfor i hverdagen. Å få økt kunnskap og kompetanse om en diagnose som preger hjem, barn og hverdag må sies å tilegne den enkelte informant en ny mestringsressurs. Dersom mestringsressursen er relevant vil dette kunne medføre stressreduksjon og økt mestring.
Foreldrene i studien beskriver også at barna deres har fått hensiktsmessig spesialisert hjelp som har hatt effekt. Når en ytre faktor bidrar til at hverdagen med et barn med ASD blir mer overkommelig for familien så kan dette også føre til stressreduksjon. Dette betegnes som en sosio-økologisk mestringsressurs. Dersom programmet er effektivt antas det også å føre til økt mestring i foreldrerollen siden programmet er ment å forebygge den autismespesifikke adferden som preger barnet med ASD. Slik kan den sosio-økologiske mestringsressursen TIOBA/EIBI på sikt ha ført til styrkede personlige mestringsressurser.
Tre av fire informanter opplyser at tiden før iverksettelse av TIOBA/EIBI var den mest stressende fasen, og at både perioden med gjennomføring av opplæringsprogrammet og tiden etterpå var mindre preget av negativt stress

We have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
