Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

This research aims to analyze the physical fitness of students who live in Islamic boarding schools and non-Islamic boarding schools. The research method used in this research is a quantitative approach with a survey design. The research subjects used in this research were MA Matholi\u27ul Huda Bugel Kedung Jepara students. The sampling technique uses total sampling. Data collection by observation, tests and documentation. Quantitative data analysis consisted of normality tests, hypothesis testing using SPSS version 26 software. The results of the research showed that the physical fitness level of all female students was in the good category. The Physical Fitness Score of the Non-Pottage TKPN = 378.53 is higher than that of the Pondok Group which is = 336.51. The limitation of this research is that it only involves MA Matholi\u27ul Huda Bugel Kedung Jepara female students, so the results cannot be generalized to all madrasa female students or schools in other areas. Based on the research results and existing limitations, the recommendation for further research is sample expansion, with a larger and more diverse sample from various madrasas or schools in other areas to increase the generalization of the research results. Then physical activity, taking more detailed and comprehensive measurements regarding the daily physical activity carried out by female students, both at the boarding school and outside the boarding school. Develop and test fitness programs to be implemented in Islamic boarding schools and schools to improve female students\u27 physical fitness and conduct long-term research to see changes in female students\u27 fitness and the factors that influence them

Studi purpose. This study aims to determine the ideal technique in playing sreng game. Materials and methods. This research uses a descriptive analysis method to present a complete explanation of the results of quantitative research. The data collection techniques used in this study include surveys, observations and documentation which are then analyzed to retrieve kinematic data such as time, angle and distance. The population in this study were students of the Faculty of Sports Science, Universitas Negeri Semarang who were members of KDOT as many as 20 people. The data analysis technique uses Kinovea Software version 0.9.5, which makes it easy to observe movements clearly and in detail. Results. The results found that the average step distance obtained was 1.493 ± 0.172 meters, the limb angle was 54.36 ± 8.695 degrees, the right elbow flexion angle was 129.04 ± 12.055 degrees, and the torso flexion angle was 20.03 ± 6.225 degrees. The time required to perform the movement obtained an average of 0.733 ± 0.136 seconds with an average speed generated of 2.10 ± 0.458 m/s. The average height of the handle produced was 0.707 ± 0.080 meters and the height of the iron was 0.158 ± 0.066 meters. Conclusions. This study found that based on the analysis of footsteps, there is a significant difference between the right and left steps, which is due to the adjustment of movements to balance the sreng. In addition, grip height and iron contact also play an important role in maintaining balance to be able to control the sreng iron well, iron contact must be low and close to the ground, so that balance in steps and controlling sreng can be maintained

This study aims to analyse the level of categories of students' social behaviour and the relationship between extracurricular activities and students' social behaviour. This study is an experimental quantitative study employing a pre-experimental design. The sample in this study was 156 students in grades VII-IX of junior high school. Data collection was carried out through a social behaviour test questionnaire sheet. The data was processed using the Correlation Test. The results indicate that (1) The highest level of student social behaviour is in the mediocre category at 55%, while the high category is 31%, and 14% is in the low category, (2) there is a strong correlation between extracurricular activities and students' social behaviour, with a coefficient of 0.848. The correlation coefficient demonstrates the close association between sport extracurricular activities and the social behaviour of students. This study concludes that the introduction of sports extracurricular activities substantially impacts students' social conduct. This is because all forms of extracurricular activities are cooperative training, which includes peer interaction, training activities, organizational activities, preparation for events, and participation in competitions or competitions that influence the development of positive character traits in students. It is intended that this research will have consequences for enhancing the development of extracurricular activities in schools so that they not only influence the pleasant social conduct of students but also produce exceptional seeds, which are the hope for Indonesia's future accomplishments

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
