Proposed Introduction of the SBAR Method in Rehabilitation

    No full text
Background: Physiotherapists face significant challenges when communicating with patients, healthcare professionals and healthcare professionals during clinical training. The objective of the study was to implement the standardised SBAR (Situation-Background-Assessment- Recommendation) method for the transfer of information between physiotherapists. Methods: The professional physiotherapists of some Care Units belonging to the Operational Rehabilitation Unit were involved. The rehabilitation SBAR card was introduced in the Care Units involved in the following 6 months. The implementation phase was characterised both by the use of the tool and by periodic peer-to-peer meetings which animated discussions and comparisons on the specific contents of the card. Monthly spot checks were carried out on some completed SBAR forms to monitor their correct filling in. SBAR form within some of the company’s care units. Results: Number of rehabilitation SBAR cards filled in/ number of deliveries made (target 80%). Number of completed cards adhering to the legend/number of completed cards sampled (target 80%) Conclusion: The change to a new delivery method with its tool stimulated individual professional reflection and virtuous discussion between professionals, but also resistance of individuals to the change and took a long time on the part of professionals

Fortuna cristiana di Iupiter in un sigillo dall’Iran Sasanide

The present article focuses on a Christian Sasanian seal with Pahlavi inscription, preserved in the Bibliothèque Nationale of Paris, characterized by a figure of a naked standing man, holding a long cross in the left hand and a globe in the right one. This peculiar iconography seems to derive from a Roman prototype of “Jupiter Protector”, which was introduced in Roman coinage by Domitian, and that was later largely adopted by other emperors. Since some rare copper coins of Šābuhr II (309-79 CE) were over-struck on late Roman coins with the same iconography, it is likely that the Persians adopted this Western image by means of coins. Finally, the Christians of Persia, during the Fifth Century, transformed the sceptre of Jupiter into a cross, and put on the gem an augural legend, well-fitting with such “victorious” representation

Gait quality after robot therapy compared with physiotherapy in the patient with incomplete spinal cord injured: A systematic review

Background: Spinal cord injury results in the interruption of neuronal conduction in the spinal cord, a condition that occurs in 0.1% of the world's population. This results in severe limitations in autonomy including locomotor function. Its recovery can be pursued through conventional isolated physiotherapeutic rehabilitation (overground walking training - OGT) or associated with Robot-assisted gait training - RAGT (e.g.: Lokomat ®). Aim: The aim of this review is to compare the effectiveness of RAGT combined with conventional physiotherapy. Methods: The databases consulted, from March 2022 to November 2022, were PubMed, PEDro, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials (Cochrane Library) and CINAHL. RCT studies of people with incomplete spinal cord injuries treated with RAGT and/or OGT with the aim of improving walking were analysed. Results: Among the 84 RCTs identified, 4 were included in the synthesis, with a total of 258 participants. The outcomes analysed concerned both locomotor function through lower limb muscle strength and the need for assistance in walking, using the WISCI-II scale and the LEMS. Robotic treatment stimulated the greatest improvements in the four studies; however, they were not always statistically significant. Conclusion: A rehabilitation protocol combining RAGT with conventional physiotherapy is more effective than isolated OGT in improving ambulation in the subacute phase

Objective This study determined which muscle tone assessment scale has the best psychometric properties in patients with acquired brain injury. Methods The systematic review included cross-sectional studies of diagnostic accuracy in which the sample consisted of adult patients with acquired brain injury of various etiologies, and the outcomes were the psychometric properties of muscle tone rating scales. The main databases consulted were PubMed, Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials and PEDro. Risk of bias and applicability were assessed using QUADAS-2, a specific tool for diagnostic studies. The characteristics of each study were presented in a synaptic table, and the results were described schematically and narratively. Results The search yielded 1056 results, of which only 13 were included in the systematic review after full-text analysis. The population of nine studies involved adult patients with upper motor neuron lesions of various etiologies, while in four studies the sample analyzed consisted of children with cerebral palsy. With regard to spasticity, the Ashworth scale and the modified Ashworth scale demonstrated low to moderate inter-operator reliability and low validity. The modified Ashworth scale, on the other hand, demonstrated high inter-operator reliability in the assessment of upper limb districts. The modified Tardieu scale was found to have low to moderate inter-operator reliability and moderate to high intra-operator reliability, with greater concordance of scores than the modified Ashworth scale. The Hypertonia Assessment Tool, the Barry-Albright Dystonia Scale, the Unified Dystonia Assessment Scale and the Burke-Fahn-Marsden Movement Scale, studied on samples of children with cerebral palsy, showed moderate to good inter-operator reliability and good internal consistency. Conclusion The systematic review identified a series of muscle tone assessment scales and analyzed the psychometric properties of each tool.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
