Passivity Based Control Control of a Three-Phase Front End Converter
A passivity-based nonlinear controller for a three-phase front end converter used for connection of renewable energy sources to the grid is presented in this paper. The control objectives are to inject all the generated power into the grid and control the reactive power exchanged with the power system. The system is represented by its port-controlled Hamiltonian model and the controller is designed by interconnection and damping assignment. The design of the controller allows a direct control of the DC link dynamics and avoids the use of derivatives in the implementation of the control equations. The performance of the proposed control strategy is validated through simulations.Fil: Serra, Federico Martin.
Interconnection and Damping Assignment Control of a Three-phase Front End Converter
A new nonlinear control strategy for a three-phase front end converter used to connect renewable energy sources to the grid is proposed in this paper. The controller is designed in order to inject all the generated power into the grid, while the reactive power can be controlled to meet the power system requirements. The system is represented through its port controlled Hamiltonian model, and the controller is designed by interconnection and damping assignment. This design method allows an intuitive way to remove the undesired couplings between system dynamics while assigning the damping required to achieve the expected convergence rate. The proposed controller allows a direct control of the DC link voltage dynamics by proper selection of the controller parameters. Moreover, an integral action is added to the proposed controller in order to eliminate the steady- state error in the system variables. The proposal is validated through simulation tests performed using a realistic converter model.Fil: Serra, Federico Martin. Universidad Nacional de Rio Cuarto; Argentina. Maximizing Energy Transference in PMSG with Arbitrary EMF Waveform
A control method is proposed with the objective of maximizing the energy transference in permanent magnet synchronous generators (PMSG). Such control is based on the evaluation of instantaneous power components. First, the conventional control strategy 6 steps for PMSG in compared with the strategy proposed for 3-wire systems where the latter has the advantage of minimizes copper losses and reduce torque ripple. Then a 4-wire systems is analyzed, the topology implemented connect the neutral point of the generator to the midpoint of the DC bus capacitor bank, in these case, the strategy proposed can increase the energy transfer exploiting the homopolar current flow. Simulation results are presented and analyzed to validate the proposed strategies for generators with three different EMF waveforms. From these results, it can be concluded that when neutral is connected, it is possible to take advantage of the homopolar components of the generator EMF by imposing and adequate current with the objective of maximizing the generator power.Fil: Catuogno, Guillermo Ricardo. IDA-PBC control of a DC–AC converter for sinusoidal three-phase voltage generation
An interconnection and damping assignment (IDA) controller is proposed for regulating the output voltage and frequency of a three-phase DC–AC converter, independently of the supplied load. A modified IDA strategy is used to design the controller, in order to obtain a proper tracking of the reference variables. Moreover, the closed-loop stability is ensured through a proper choice of the desired energy function. Different from classical approaches, such as conventional PI control in dq coordinates, the proposed controller provides a better dynamic response while it allows performing a joint design of the voltage and current control loops. Besides, the proposed modified IDA design allows a more precise output voltage control when supplying nonlinear loads, when compared with the classical IDA design. Simulations and experimental results are presented for validating the proposal.Fil: Serra, Federico Martin. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas. Power Flow Maximization in Permanent-Magnet Generators
The main hypothesis proposed in this paper is that by controlling the harmonic and zero-sequence components of the current in nonsinusoidal permanent-magnet synchronous generators (PMGs), additional energy can be obtained, thereby increasing the machine power density without increasing the Joule effect losses. Two different strategies are proposed for three- and four-wire topologies; therefore, four different cases are analyzed. The strategies consist in controlling the PMG stator currents, following a function that depends on the waveform of the back electromotive force (EMF). The current function is obtained from the instantaneous reactive power theory. An experimental system was built to validate the proposal. Experimental results prove that it is possible to increase power in a tested PMG by 7% using the four-wire topology in comparison with the conventional block commutation and same losses. Higher power gain can be obtained for machines with almost rectangular-shaped EMF waveforms.Fil: Catuogno, Guillermo Ricardo. Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas; Argentina. Adaptive observer for sensorless control of stand-alone doubly fed induction generator
A sensorless control strategy for a doubly fed (wound rotor) induction machine working in variable-speed stand-alone power systems without using mechanical sensors is presented in this paper. Stator voltage magnitude and frequency are regulated using two field-oriented control loops. A Luenberger observer is used to estimate the stator flux, while an adaptive scheme modifies the rotor position required in the stator flux estimation. Stator voltage magnitude and frequency control loops behave very well for steady state as well as for transient states like startup, speed variations, or electric load changes. Experimental results are presented to validate this proposal.Fil: Forchetti, Daniel Gustavo. Universidad Nacional de Río Cuarto. Facultad de Ciencias Exactas Fisicoquímicas y Naturales. Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
