Ancora e sempre.

The essay describes the dialectical excavation that Italo Valent carries out in Wittgenstein's work. The formula, thoughtfully aphoristic, is the key with which the philosopher explores Wittgensteinian themes at the level of both method and style; it is also, in its adverbial and hendiadic nature - where the "sempre"(always) weakens the fold of the "ancora"(again), but the "ancora"(again) disturbs the continuity of the "sempre"(always) - the modulation of a practice of thought that expresses the work carried out by the author on Wittgenstein's texts and, at the same time, the singular form of his philosophical writing, where the aphorism shows precisely that exuberance of thinking about saying from which the enterprise of philosophy moves. Here the itinerary through what Valent calls Wittgenstein’s speculative style allows us to recognize the activity in which philosophy consists: from the fight with the language that summarizes the content, method and style of Wittgensteinian philosophy emerges the autonomy of thought with respect to the will to communicate, to the social performances of discourse and to the rules of logic. Thus the original atopy of the philosopher is revealed, his tactical positioning out of place with respect to the roles of society, to the labels of culture and to the effects of the practices of discourses and knowledge

    Italo Svevo's Novels

    No full text
The main subject of this bachelor thesis is the analysis of three novels written by Italo Svevo. First chapter presents briefly the author and the city of Terst which had an impact on his poetics. The following chapters analyses successively the novels Una vita, Senilita and La coscienza di Zeno. Especially emphasized are the typical protagonist called inetto and his changes within the framework of these novels. Mentioned are also the role of a woman, the contrast between inetto and the antagonist and some others, for Svevo typical motives. Separated chapter is dedicated to the so called literary silence of Italo Svevo

Chapter Progressivo e imminentivo nel sistema verbale dell’albanese d’Italia

This article deals with some specific characteristics of the Italo-Albanian (Arbëresh) verbal system, including the “presumptive” and “unfinished” past, but focuses especially on the expression of Aktionsart with the help of periphrases variously present, if not only marginally, in Balkan Albanian and already attested in the first Arbëresh grammars of the 19th century. The distribution of the periphrastic constructions with progressive and imminentive functions in a series of Italo-Albanian dialects is analysed on the basis of an initial overview of durative periphrases presented in Savoia (1991), but enriched by further research and integrated into a broader typological overview. The author hypothesises that the periphrases in question are not so much the result of linguistic contact with actual Italo-Romance varieties, but rather go back to the Balkan context of possibly Proto-Romance origin

Free space optical system performance for a Gaussian beam propagating through non Kolmogorov weak turbulence

Atmospheric turbulence has been described for many years by Kolmogorov's power spectral density model because of its simplicity. Unfortunately several experiments have been reported recently that show Kolmogorov theory is sometimes incomplete to describe atmospheric statistics properly, in particular in portions of the troposphere and stratosphere. It is known that free space laser system performance is limited by atmospheric turbulence. In this paper we use a non-Kolmogorov power spectrum which uses a generalized exponent instead of constant standard exponent value 11/3 and a generalized amplitude factor instead of constant value 0.033. Using this spectrum in weak turbulence, we carry out, for a Gaussian beam propagating along a horizontal path, analysis of long term beam spread, scintillation, probability of fade, mean signal to noise ratio and mean bit error rate as variation of the spectrum exponent. Our theoretical results show that for alpha values lower than 11/3 , but not for alpha close to 3 , there is a remarkable increase of scintillation and consequently a major penalty on the system performance. However when alpha assumes values close to 3 or for alpha values higher than 11/3 scintillation decreases leading to an improvement on the system performanc

    No full text
Boccaccio’s Rime have come down to us by means of fragmentary transcriptions, most of which date no earlier than the sixteenth century. Under these conditions, intertextual analysis is the most reliable tool for measuring the effective presence of texts in the poetic culture of subsequent generations. After demonstrating how Boccaccio’s unmistakable lyrical phrases were adopted by fourteenth- and fifteenth-century rhymers, this essay focuses on a poem with no pre-sixteenth-century witnesses, namely sonnet LVI, and pays particular heed to the original reworking of themes and models (both classical and medieval) carried out by the author, as well as to the significant fourteenth- and fifteenth-century success of the text
