No full textA letter from Dr. Henry Y. T. Fok to Springfield College President Dr. Randolph W. Bromery confirming the endowment gift of 1 million dollars establishing the Fok Ying Tung Chair, or Fok Fund.Dr. Henry Y.T. Fok was a prominent Hong Kong industrialist and philanthropist. The gift was made through the Fok Ying Tung Foundation which was established in 1984 to provide for the advancement of education, athletics, medical, social welfare and tourism in China. The Fok Fund is used to promote sports and athletic relationships between China and the United States. In particular, the funds have been used by Sun Yat-sen and Springfield College to facilitate travel of distinguished coaches, physical education faculty and sport researchers at the two institutions and provide opportunities for undergraduate and graduate and other visiting scholars to attend workshops, clinics, and classes at Springfield College and Sun Yat-sen. This has been done through the he Fok Physical Education and Sport Exchange Programs agreement at Sun Yat-Sen University(Zhongshan University) in Guangzhou, China, dated March 17, 1996

Partial Knowledge, Distractor Elimination, and Fok Accuracy
No full textThere is increasing evidence that the feeling of knowing judgment (FOK) may rely on cue familiarity or partial knowledge of the answer. Koriat (1993, 1994) and Nelson and Narens (1991) suggest that the FOK judgment may be determined from already retrieved relevant information. If this is so, there should be a relationship between the amount of knowledge available to the subject regarding a question, the FOK expressed, and its validity as a predictor of recognition. It would also be natural for partial knowledge of this kind to simultaneously help in the recognition test, thereby increasing FOK accuracy. Using a recognition test designed to assess the effect of distractor elimination strategies, we found (1) that the FOK judgment does correlate with the number of distractors a subject is able to eliminate before choosing an alternative, and (2) that FOK accuracy is strongly reduced when the effect of that strategy is partialled out
