No full textThe paper deals with the numerical calibration of a speedy procedure for large scale seismic vulnerability assessment of masonry building aggregates, which are typical building compounds diffused within historical centres of many Italian towns. First of all, based on several numerical analyses developed with the 3MURI calculation program, this simplified assessment procedure has been implemented, it being derived from the well known vulnerability form for masonry buildings integrated by five parameters accounting for the aggregate conditions among adjacent units. Later on, the set-up procedure has been validated through an application to a single building aggregate in the Vesuvius area. Since the results
previously achieved have been again confirmed, subsequently the procedure has been used to investigate a wide area of the historical centre of Torre del Greco, allowing for the knowledge of the buildings most at risk under earthquake. Finally, the methodology has been applied to the historical centre of Poggio Picenze (AQ), damaged by the recent Italian earthquake (2009), in order to prove its effectiveness to foresee the damage level experienced by other types of masonry aggregates under seismic actions

No full textThe paper deals with the analysis of the seismic behaviour of masonry aggregates by means of a quick
methodology, already implemented and experienced in previous works to historical centres of Campania Region,
applied, in the framework of the post-seismic scenario of L’Aquila earthquake, to the historic centres of Poggio
Picenze and San Pio delle Camere. Seismic vulnerability assessment and damage analysis of masonry building
compounds have been performed, so obtaining a numerical correlation between vulnerability index and mean
damage grade. In particular, a damage forecast under numerical way has been firstly estimated and then compared
with the real one. The post-earthquake scenario has represented an ideal term of comparison for effectively testing
the reliability of the employed technique. Finally, the comparison of results for two examined historical centres has
evidenced a different structural behaviour of investigated masonry compounds under the same seismic action

No full textO presente texto endossa a suspeita de Bento Prado Jr. (1937-2007) de que haveria certa continuidade entre os temas e o estilo de Mário de Andrade (1893-1945) e Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919-2005). Tomando a música como paradigma, ao retomar, uma a uma, as relações temáticas propostas por Prado Jr., propõe-se pensar o conceito marioandradiano de inacabado como um elemento da estética de Gilda. Espera-se, com isso, contribuir para uma compreensão mais aprofundada da forma ensaística em nossa autora enquanto um posicionamento, mais do que teórico, social.This current text endorses Bento Prado Jr.’s (1937-2007) suspicion that there would be some continuity between the themes and style of Mário de Andrade (1893-1945) and Gilda de Mello e Souza (1919-2005). Considering music as a paradigm, by taking up, one by one, the thematic relationships suggested by Prado Jr., it is proposed, in this work, a debate regarding the Mario-Andradian concept of unfinished as an element of Gilda’s aesthetic. It is hoped, therefore, to contribute to a deeper understanding of the essayistic form practiced by the author as a more social than theoretical position
An Integrated Strategic Framework for the Urban Development of Favela Dique da Vila Gilda in Santos, Brazil
No full textFavela Dique da Vila Gilda is located in a complex region, having large areas of valuable natural environments which are put under pressure by the rapid urbanization processes. The slum areas in the region, among other Vila Gilda, are together with the industrial areas the main polluters of the environments. In turn, this is also affecting the living environments of the favelas themselves. Current slum upgrading projects do not respond well to the living and environmental problems, and often result in fragmented iverse local interventions, executed by a various stakeholders.
