Es lässt sich vermuten, dass der Mensch das schwächste Glied der IT-Sicherheitskette darstellt. Dies ist auf zu wenig Know-how, mangelnde Vorsicht sowie unzureichende Sensibilisierung zurückzuführen. Studierende haben Passwörter an Unbefugte ausgehändigt, wodurch der Zugang zu Systemen und Ressourcen der FHNW ermöglicht werden kann

    Über 2000 Studierende besuchen an der Fachhochschule Nordwestschweiz am Standort Olten einen der Bachelor- oder Masterstudiengänge. Die Studierenden, aber auch Mitarbeitende stellen immer wieder Fragen zum Leben rund um den Campus Olten. Um die Angestellten des Sekretariats zu entlasten, hat die FHNW eine Anfrage nach einer Informationssammlung gestellt. Diese sollte so ausführlich sein, wie die Broschüre des Campus Brugg-Windisch, aber zeitgemäss im Internet abgefragt werden können. Mit der zunehmenden Mobilität soll die Benutzung der Informationssammlung auch via Smartphone möglich sein
